Do we really need a new thread for every colour?

Yes, this does look awesome and will probably be my choice of colour when I spec. But I don't think we need to clog the board up with a new thread for every colour - especially when there's already a very healthy picture thread and these particular pics have already been posted three times before. All this double posting makes this excellent forum hard going sometimes and fragments the discussion.

I hate silver too.. but not on a modern Ferrari. A silver 599 or F430 or even California looks great and clean imo.

Looks awesome in that color, even with the ugly front bumper.

Nice color but unfortunately nothing can fix the anime front. Those headlights are simply proportionally out of whack with the rest of the car and those weird inserts in the front grille are just wrong. It's hard to believe that this is the final front of the car.

When you look at the wonderful covered headlights on Euro versions of the Dino you can see the possibilities, but unfortunately it appears as if the design committee at Ferrari have lost any sense of their beautiful heritage.

I completely agree. I have been fortunate enough to see a few 458s in real life (both stationary and in motion) and I must that aesthetically it isn't my cup of tea.

The car is nicely proportioned and the rear looks nice. However, the front-end just ruins the whole car IMVHO.

That being said, I'm sure that the car is a blast to drive.

Although you are entitled to your opinion, i would have to completely disagree with you... I would agree if you were talking about the new California... To me, it doesnt appear that the designers put much effort in its creation. Very blah to say the least.. So your statements are correct if you were reffering to the california, IMO... But this new 458 is a testament to how radical designs can be... There has to be an "edge" out there or it just looks like "another" ordinary sportscar... Ferrari really landed it with the Italia.... Radical, dramatic design covering a Lion's rage of an engine down below....

Do you mean the headlights are oversized?

I don't it is that big. If you look at this over head shot, it doesn't out of place compared with the rest of the car.

I just think the headlights look unfinished. The gaps where the hood merges with the font bumper looks like the headlight spec was written by someone without the right measurements. And the inserts in the grille, while performing some essential function , look like an afterthought.

I have been fortunate enough in my life to have had had all kinds of Ferraris and I have favorites from every era, but once the 360 was designed and became the template for the 430 and 458, design by committee became the standard and I've never come across a committee worth a damn in any endeavor in life.

The last great looking small Ferrari was the 355 coupe and the greatest of the small cars remains the Dino, with the 308GTB a very close second.

My favorite Ferrari design of all is still the Lusso and the PF 250 cabs are also beautiful to behold.
The 458, while probably one of the most competent Ferraris ever from an engineering point of view is simply not worthy of the great designs that preceded it.

+1 ----------. I visited the Factory in November and had the opportunity to spend time with the 458. No matter how I tried , the front end cannot be absorbed in one glance, because of all the "angles" and "openings". The interior has its own challenges beginning with the elimination of a turn signal stalk. Young and first time owners may find it terrific, but for those of us who have owned a few Ferrari's and a bit longer in the tooth, it will require some work to adjust.

However, I feel a bit snobbish criticizing a Ferrari. It's like living an a beautiful island with how many women/men you want, with all you desire, and a cloud passes over blocking the sun for a moment. I am sure we will get over it, in time.
