I just put Griot's Weatherproof Tire Dressing on my new tires for the 1st time. Using a sponge, some got on my new aluminum wheels. This stuff is black & has stuck to my shiny beautiful wheels big time. Used soap, 409, wheel cleaner, engine cleaner, & can’t get it off! Tried to call Griot’s but they are closed Sunday. Please help!

You could always call Griots tomorrow and see what they reccommend.
I would think mineral spirits might work but I'd check with them first.

Depeding on what the finish is on the wheels you could try a wheel acid like meguairs hot rims. That gets almost anything off or perhaps simple green.

Griots is very helpful though, You could try emailing them, I'm sure they'd know the best way.

If they were my wheels, I would try (in this order):
    1. Clay
    2. Goo Gone
    3. Paint Thinner
    4. Laquer Thinner
    5. Scratch-X

    Keep us posted!!

Call Griot's immediately. Not only will they know what to use, but they will want to hear what happened so they can prevent it in the future.

Almost all of their products can be removed with another. If it is a wheel, I'd use their BBS-endorsed Wheel Cleaner.

Griot's is just about 35 miles from my house. I stop by frequently to buy products. (I have a shelf-full ranging from Speed Shine and the polishes, to the leather conditioner, and even the random orbital (okay, the orbital was borrowed by a friend last year and never returned!!!))

Anyway, these guys are DIE-HARD car fans. They absolutely love to hear what you like and what you don't, and if something is bad, they will work day and night to make it better.

And as an aside -- they are about the only makers of car care products that actually make solutions and creams SMELL good. I often think about spraying a little Speed Shine under each arm ;) .

I wish Griots was near where I live. But if it was I'd probably be there a few times a week giving them even more of my money for even more of their products.

Ok...here's my guess: Karen just mixed up all the suggested chemicals in a bucket & then passed out from the fumes :)

    Hope she's OK!
