    Hello, i got some 2nd hand rims, a grit like material (feels like course sandpaper) is inside rim around the bead
    I cant pick it off with my nail
    Any idea what it is and do i need to remove and if so how to do so safely?

    Wouldnt whole inside of rim have it everywhere??

    I dont mind its there i just need to know will it cause issues when fitting new tires or how do I remove it??

    Is that the lip where the tire seats?
    Could be the grit is a technique to keep the tire from slipping/ moving on the rim?

    So just leave it on? I asked a tire shop he had no idea lol

    The only concern is it wont seal properly??

    I can pretty say that wasn't on them at factory unless something changed mid production cycle

    I have 8 other scud rims that dont have it
    Just want to know how to safely remove it
    But also would like to know what it is

    Don't know what it is but have you tried white mineral spirits or denatured alcohol .. brake cleaner spray
