My F458 Coupe is in the US and due at dealer in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks to all for the ground clearance information - the 7.25 inch front lip clearance and 5.0 inch chassis clearance.

I made a simple tool to test for clearance. Setting the 5.0 inch chassis clearance between the wheelbase using a board the length of the car and the front/rear overhang. For my steep driveway, the chassis clearance is the closest but IS OK!

Also by eyeballing your driveway, I am certain you will clear.

I think your expirement is spot on and you should be ok. I've had my 458 for about two weeks and have not had one clearance problem, I did to order the lift so ground clearance is important for me as well. Call your dealer everyday and ask where the car is, I think you'll get it before 2 weeks. Good luck.

Your experimental approach is to be admired.

Does it matter if you angle the car/board?

You can really improve a slope by approaching it at an angle.

I really love the template though! Man, you have 458 FEVER bad!!!! :)

I also believe you will clear.

And I love your attention to detail.

Stats on Fchat showed me that a 360 has a 4.8" clearance and my driveway curb was 5".
Thus I redid the driveway as an abundance of caution. Before and after. Works great.

As has been said before, try approaching on an angle. My 458 was lowered and it really helped in many situations. Also, if problem is primarily with front of car scraping, I cannot recommend the delrin under tray addition. This way if you scrape, it is not any paint or primary car surface. My dealer puts it on cars that people track due to curb damage. So, natural extension to use on street for driveways. If problem is center of car being hung up when front goes over, the angle may be all you need - short of concrete work. Best of luck on your new car. It is wonderful.

Yes, angling generally increased the clearance since the "effective wheelbase" (i.e. down the straightline of the drive) gets shorter.

I played around with it with the goal of determining if I could drive straight in/out. This is the worst of my two drives so it looks like a am good.

    Just need a car now....

Nice before and after The concrete grinding on the curb looks great. Did you do this BEFORE you got the car?

Please do not call your dealer everyday, they have absolutely no control over when your car will be there and I promise they want it there just as bad as you do.

After I knew mine was close, I sent an email or called once per week to check status. The last time I called, they said "glad you called, it came in a few days ago."

On the lifter, it works really well, but it is unfortunately only a front lifter (unlike my other car where the entire car lifts). So, the front of my car gets over the curbing wonderfully, but the rear (the slats on the diffuser) hits when the wheels drop off the curb. ugh.

Figured you had to be technically trained. Only and engineer or scientist would do this experiment -- to get the actual data vs. opinion.

Good luck with the car. It is extraordinary.

Ya that seems like a fast turn around. A lot of guys waiting a year for there cars! the wait is definitely hard but that is what makes it even more sweet when you have it in your garage.

Rick, Way to go! Almost exactly the way I did it before I ordered my F430. Not a single problem with my 458. I remember my neighbors were wondering what the hell I was doing out there with the boards in our driveway. Congrats, really happy for you.

I'd still take the driveway slowly and at an angle which should be fine based on how wide it is.
