    I'll post open box later.

For the GruppeM parts I was quoted 6 weeks to produce and then air freight from Japan direct. They shipped exactly 6 weeks from the day I ordered and I received them 4 days later. Pretty spot on for an estimate.

Do you have a 95? I'm looking for new air filters for my GruppeM on my 95. Did you order direct from GruupeM?

It's a 1995 F355. I ordered from Vivid. I don't think you can order direct. I waited a year an a half on this site and ebay looking for one and they just don't exist or it will take too long.

I haven't looked at the air filters but I assume you can buy replacements via K/N etc.

Can't get them through K&N. They don't have a part #. They were special to GruppeM. I'll try Vivid. Thanks

Box from Japan was well packed. Items in multiple layers of bubble wrap and then marshmellow foam. Looks like 1 or maybe 2 layers of carbon with fiberglass backing. Probably a thin layer of epoxy from the mold process and maybe a shot of clear. Not super thick clear. Probably a good thing.

Took them 6 weeks to produce and another 4 to air ship to the USA. Smelled of epoxy/VOC (slightly) which would seem either a) they just made them to order or b) they made them to order before and boxed them within a day or two and the off-gas fumes remained in the packaging. Nothing strong, btw, just you could smell it a bit.

Nice! There's a thread somewhere in this subforum that goes over some internal modifications someone did to the GruppeM to get the most power out of it. FYI

Tried a few searches, no luck. A link would be great if you could help. Putting it in a few days from now.

He changed the velocity stack air inlet and added the gold foil heat insulation Ive added the insulation to mine but have not changed the velocity stack.

Here is a picture. Mine is the engine with the red air box covers before I added the foil. The Gruppe M stays cooler to the touch than stock. It added some power over stock but biggest improvement is throttle response and better midrange. You will notice it. Everybody always just looks at the total ho gain. On a 355 , I'm more interested in increasing power and response in midrange and upper midrange in torque curve. I didn't dyno mine back to back but have seen others and increase in midrange was where the gain was.

So the mod was to not use the air filter, (potentially) put a an aluminum inlet in its place, and put gold reflective material on the underside of the box and the factory tubes?

Here is a link to the exact post where he details the modifications he did to actually see an improvement over stock GruppeM configuration:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/144897729/

His car also had some other modifications that also helped those numbers...but these are direct comparisons to pre/post GruppeM. I would not expect the same increases without doing the other mods that he did (modern Motec with a tune, ported/polished heads I believe, etc.)

Still...that car made over 350rwhp when he was done. That's plenty for a little car like the 355.

No he used the filter just a longer air horn. The gold foil is to keep the intake air cool by reflecting heat away from the box.

Looking forward to hearing about you thoughts once it’s driven. Induction noise changes mostly if any changes there.

I drove about 70 miles or so yesterday. A couple notes.
It's hard for me to say there is any HP from a butt dyno because my daily driver significantly faster and crap tons of torque. So the Ferrari is slow and 5% HP is undetectable for me.
Combine that with the fact I had not driven the car for the 8 weeks proceeding the install, I can't tell.
With that delay it is hard to tell how much change in sound has happened.

Having said that, I believe there is a slight change in the engine noise. At 8k rpm with the Capristo it sounds the same to me as before. The Capristo just screems. In the low end 1500-3500 there seems to be a bit more boxer engine/throaty sound which is excellent. I'd say it's about a 2-5% change in sound, so nothing huge. I should be able to dyno it sometime and we will see what is the change from my previous dyno last year.

A couple notes. I purchased through a vendor/sponsor on this site. Changes the sound a bit or maybe quite a bit for some. I think a little and it's all in a good way. Does it rev faster, maybe but I never measured. I can say that my 355 revs super slow compared to my much more modern car now it seems to be adequate whether with the GruppeM or just that I think so is fine. Does it add HP? maybe. Probably in the correct conditions but even so, it's an NA engine and adding HP is expensive and in small doses with an NA car. I have hear 5-10HP. Maybe. Can you really feel it? Maybe.

So that is kind of a bland report but let me say this, it looks fabulous. I This should have been a factory part. It looks great and is a real eye catcher. Combine that with a few HP and a tweak to the sound and I think it is worth it especially with the side panels. Vivid (James) treated me very good and the time estimate was spot on. If you just want HP then I'd suggest a turbo or a different car but if you want to add a bit of specialty to your car this is a good set of pieces to install.

I wouldn’t get it for the horsepower more so the potential increase in induction note - but as you mentioned if you already have a capristo it would be hard to hear any changes over that sound. Perhaps with a stock exhaust the induction bark would be more noticeable. Looks great to me.

I added gold under the heat shield (has some heat shield on top. Also to the side panels so that it is less likely they will cloud or discolor (clear coat/gel) due to heat.

I also did the full underside of the airbox. From the top you can only see it from certain angles. I didn't take any pics of the underside after the gold was on. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Did the same with mine. I've had mine for 15 years and no discoloration from heat. Mine is more carbon Kevlar than straight carbon fiber like yours. My air box does not get that hot. The stock air boxes would get so hot you could not touch them. The GruppeM you can touch without burning yourself. Yours looks great.
