I have one more car to compare. How would GS compare to 550 6sp. Price is similar and they both make great sound. GS would be 06 and 550 would be 2000 model. I had few Ferrari with f1 and I don't mind manual 6sp for change.

    Thank FC.

cost of ownership will be a huge difference. The gs will be far less expensive in maint.

The 550 will have more torque and overall be more powerful but is more of a gt car.

I love my maser but a 575 is on the shortlist of next cars (probably a gallardo). either way you can't go wrong.

550 hands down. Esp is you have other daily driver cars. The 550 is one of my favorite Ferrari's ever, just watch Bad Boys 2 and I think your mind will be made up. :)

I have a ’99 550 daily driver, and an ’06 GS F1 Spyder. Although the Spyder is not the source of your question, it has the same engine/drivetrain/interior as the coupe – just minus the roof and a couple of seats. ;-)

They are two completely different cars. I actually love both. Maserati did a wonderful job at getting the exhaust sound right on the GS. I go up and down the gears just to hear the thing sing. The blips on downshift, while more show than go (doesn’t really seem to match revs like my old 360 F1), are still way cool.

For the money, the 550 is in a class by itself. It’s a $240k car you can buy now for $100k. I think it has incredible looks (mine’s red/tan). That V12 is awesome. It has cabin space (I’m 6’2”+), looks, power, luxury, sound. For every look and thumbs up I get in the GS, I get five in the 550.

However, I also love my GS warranty. I simply would not own the car without one (at least my particular car). While the parts are less expensive than the 550’s, the labor rate is the same (assuming your Ferrari dealer is doing the work).

My 550 has proven to be very reliable. However, when it breaks, it can be expensive. Also, regular maintenance, like belt changes, can add up quickly if you do it by the book like I do.

    Good luck in your choice!

    Tim
