Thanks Tony! Excellent insight in that article. I'd have gone for the 308GTB, but as noted, terrible time right now for the yank dollar!

My favorite uncle might have been a player, as he has fond memories of a 246GT ("About $1,000.00 per month to maintain") and I have a later steel 308GTB carb. He routinely imported his cars back in the day, after a vacation in Europe.

He called back the day AFTER the auction, I just told him "Merry Christmas, open your presents the day they arrive!" He said he always does! LOL

I'll think of Lepeltier, the next time I redline and reach for another gear.
Hats off to his mate, for snagging the F40 down. That's all we'll leave behind, is the memories. A sobering thought.

Happy New Year, thanks to Ferrari UK for the help with these "old girls"

    Speedy308,
you would certainly turn some heads in that lime green 308 GTB[that's the one you like, right?] and i imagine that takes some doing in Texas!

    Thanks!

Does anybody have more information about that 288 GTO btw?

The article mentions Perego as the new onwer. Do we have a country?

Just trying to update my registry.

It was Monsieur Lepeltier you owned that 288 GTO before.

Click on the photo of that 288 GTO and they talk about the history of the 288 GTO and they say Mr. Lepeltier opinion on the 288 GTO he had.
(He said the 288 GTO was one of his favorite)

Funny that Bonham even got the history wrong: 200 GTOs built. Yeah right...

Well, Tony see attached photo of my 308GTB paint job.

I think it rivals that lime green one actually, the second car was for my eleven year old daughter, who helps me with the racing kart team.

My girlfriend looks just like yours when she dances in a towel!
I miss my first wife, but my aim is getting better!

There it is! the World's Fastest Art Car, as noted in Cavallino #133!

When a guy hit my door, I told the insurance to allow $500.00 for "custom graphics". It's Amanda's hand prints! LOL

Actually, she named it, "The Handyman" (handprints, see) It was her second grade Art Project.

We are pretty well known here in Houston, from the Art Car Parade.
It's been fun these past four years, touring schools, meeting young kids and such. It's going in for a respray soon, and it's Art Car years will be over. I thought it would make an interesting footnote in the history of the car, "Belonged to some wacko Texan that let his little girl use it for a canvas!"

Kinda like the '64 GTO in the Victoria Texas High School auto shop, sold at auction for $6,500.00 in 1966!
