Risi (Ferrari) is leading but not by much. If the Flying Lizzard Porsche wins GT2 and the Risi car drops out, they can still win the GT2 championship. Here is a link to the qualifying..

Hey Michael - the Audi Hospitality at this one is beyond awesome! ! ! No Maser at this one unofrtunatley. Two Penske Porsches have front row - in EVERY class set a new track record today during qualifying. The TWO backmarker GT2 teams have NO business being here this weekend - this even comes from talking with various teams and opinions from same. They BOTH screwed up during practice and ended up in the kitty litter. We found out this evening that there is a 107% rule (or whatever the percentage is) like in F1 but unfortunatley not enforced in ALMS. The sad this is that one of the spectator driver teams will be driving a Ford GTR next year - more money than brains.

Got a special invite to a Flying Lizard private party tonight in one of the suites above the pits - terrific time and Seth, Darren, Jorge, Johannes all present - lots of good food, adult refreshments and good times. Need to look up Joe tomorrow.

Saturday's victory gives Ferrari its first manufacturer championship in the ALMS Series and the second straight team title for Risi Competizione, with the Flying Lizard Porsche duo of Jörg Bergmeister and Johannes van Overbeek finishing second. Salo and Melo's Ferrari won the first four races of the season and eighth of the year. That sets a record for most GT2 victories in a single season.

"We've had quite a year but we have to look at the Porsche teams who have provided the competition because, without them, we wouldn't be here," said Giuseppe Risi, team owner and managing director. "I especially want to mention the Flying Lizard team, who are real sportsmen. Racing in the Series has been very special, and I think the Series is justified in calling itself ‘World Class.' We have a competitive car now, and I am sure Porsche won't be sleeping over the winter. Neither will we."

That was one exciting end to the race. I spent the last hour of the race in an Audi red/grey firesuit in the Audi pit next to all the monitors - talk about excitement and then some. When the fireworks went off it was unbelieveable there and must have been the same at Risi. I was out on the track when they parked the R10 and other winners - couldn't have asked for a better finish to the end of the season. Got lots of hugs, I told Guiseppe he "smelled like champagne" - wonder why !?!?! We thought the Atlanta race was close with .932 for Dindo but this one tops the cake with the .431. Gonna miss the F1 race - catch a plane out of here (San Jose) in an hour and the F1 race will be over when we get home.

The Lizards are a fantastic group of folks too!

Withdrawl will begin tomorrow ! ! ! Sebring seems like years away.

Tony - it was wonderful to finally meet you - thanks for the hats!

Joe - we were by the #96 yesterday morning but you weren't there yet - another place, another time.

    Carol

    Hi Carol,
It was great seeing you at Laguna Seca. The GT2 battle was great as was the battle between Dindo Capello and Romain Dumas. Have a save trip back!
