    Dilema.....

Going to chop in my S4 within the next month or two and it needs replacing until my 430 arrives. If you had 65 - 70k to spend what would you do?

Looked at a porsche gt3 at tonbridge porker on sat and liked it a lot.... or an early 360?

Trouble is that it will be used quite heavily - I like to use my cars and put about 15k a year on them. And thats not the runaround car either!

When choping that in around 18 months what would bring the lesser financial suicide?

    Thanks in advance.

    Duncan

    Definetly the GT3.

Although you'll lose money on both, I reckon you'd lose less with the Porsche and it'll probably be more reliable.

If you buy well, you can have LHD 360 for late £50k. Can't see cars like this losing too much more.

GT3 all day long. Cheap to run for bigger mileage , very reliable and I reckon you will lose less as well. Hate saying it though !

    This is the problem....

Its a ferrari and therefore its just better!

The porsche, because its different.... very reliable (so I am told) and will handle 15k a year no problem. Also looking to tracking abilities too!

No major questions.... Things to consider....running costs- fuel costs on 15k would be around the same I guess or a little higher for the fezza. Servicing again a tad higher on the fezza.....

KHPC have a nice grigo rhd for 64k which looks quite tasty - same price as the gt3 although gt3 is an early 2004 and has 6k miles, ferrari a late 1999 with 23k odd.. The ferrari is f1 though and at that age not too sure on the durability and reliability of it?

Many thanks for all the comments - its a tough decision.....

Looking to buy currently also and have considered both.

The GT3 will take a hit once the 997GT3 comes out mid way next year. May depend on how good the new one is/or if its substantially better.

360 prices are already backed up hard against 355 prices, however if you intend to put 25,000 miles on, not sure how much you'll lose if you buy a 70-75k car in the first place. Somebody will always want a 360.

Have you considered a turbo, they can be had for 55k now, figuring the new model will be in the 90k's, its not going to drop a lot more.

How did you manage to get so far up the 430 list without having a Ferrari in the first place?

I was just about to suggest a 996 turbo! £70k will put you in a 8k mile '03 plate with Nav and Aero-kit in like-new condition.

£55k will get you in a 20k mile '01 plate, again with nav and all the toys.

A 996 will handle that mileage all day long, and if you buy the right one moving it on at decent money shouldn't prove too much of a task either.

Just curious, how do you order a F430, do you leave a sizable deposit and the rest when you take possession?

GT3 is a great bit of kit but i would go for a low mileage manual 360

911s are like arseholes everyones got one!!!

see thats the exact conclusion I may be coming too - porsches are hugely common and maybe someone who knows about cars will go - oh look a gt3...

but with a ferrari most people will say - look a ferrari!

Im not too concerned about the image though as its the complete package and I like to be a little different - hence the s4 - huge performance in an estate!

It's been said above 360s must be bottoming out, where as when the 997 GT3 arrives the only way for a 996 is down

You will love the F430 when do you expect to get the beast?

I tracked my 2004 gt3 4 times, and that was the only enjoyment I got out of it. Lacked soul & sense of occasion. Brakes were amazing, that's about all I can say about it.

Oh and it got nicked, never to be seen again. A lot of them do due to the high resale value of the engine (30k's worth of engine) and other mechanicals
