lads just having a look and the porsche sites around and i am truely wondering why our GT3's are priced so high...surely importation/insurance and RHD dont cost this much more out of germany.

Look at this one in the USA virtually a brand new 2004 model less than 6,000km...
price is $94500 USD converted on XE.com that is $123k AUD ish.

    http://www.boxstar.net/gt3.htm

Now compare this to the Australian sale ones a 2004 14,000 km.
    $202,000

    http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.dealer_vehicle?vehicle_id=2347211&current_rec=3&total_rec=5&sort_type=1&make_id=48&model_id=356&keyword=GT3&state_id=-1&search_distance=25

anyone care to elaborate why we have to pay $70k more for the same car???

seems like we are getting ripped off to me.

    Cheers
    -Pete

    Any Details???

And how does it shape up compared to the GT2.

Obviousley a 6cyl and a 6cyl TT but there must be more for the extra 100-120k which is between them (gt2 and gt3 i mean)

    Cheers

LCT, GST and stamp duty, which artificially inflate the sale price of a new luxury (200K+) by around 30%, which is then reflected in second hand prices.
A new E55 can be bought for less than 80K USD OTR, in Aust the same car is approx 195K USD (250K AUD OTR)

You can buy 99 model 360 C for silly cheap US prices too, but Aus prices are inflated.

Car's are so heavily taxed here it's just not funny.

GT3 is a great car straight out of the box. GT2 is a weapon in a straight line. There isn't much on the road that can keep up in any gear. Remember my car is an 02 so it was ultra quick long before the 430,lambo's etc came along. very hard car to dive fast around a race track. getting the power out of corners without swapping ends is difficult. Breaks traction is 2nd gear in the dry all the time. Forget about getting on the pedal in the wet. Very dangerous. Every person I have taken for a quick ride just says the same word. f**k!!!

I don't think he'll get one. He's getting a fat cheque off the insurance hopefully. Car is dead.

It's not just this car.. Australians get fugging ripped off on all cars compared to the overseas prices

    good examples:
Mazda RX-8 (RRP for a manual with no options)

    Australia: $54,465 AUD
    USA: $35,464 AUD
    JAPAN:$32,759 AUD

    Alfa Romeo GT 3.2 V6 24V (6 spd Manual)
    Australia: $79,990 AUD
    Italy: $43,125 AUD
    UK: $50,556 AUD

It does make you wonder where our money is going doesn't it...

Crashed it at Phillip Island racing. Having a great battle for 2nd with 2 others, when didn't make it at MG.....

Real shame, nice guy, good driver, great car etc etc.

I think he was a little winded, but ok.

I think he got rammed off the road.
More than a little winded. Battered and bruised and carted off to hospital!
    he's ok, though.

Thats for sure...sounds like moving to europe is the go...too bad i will be lonely over there, but i will have a nice car :))

well at least we know when we see younger guys in exotics over there we know it cost half of what it did here, so much more respect to guys like scud in aus.

cost of the porsche her 70k, could pay for a relocation to germany deposit on a house and no need for speeding fines when the autobahn will be down the street...

our blody autobahn is 1600 km from anything, well thats only if you count alice springs on the way to the stuart.

    Cheers
