Saw a 4.0 at Momentum last night before it drove off, very cool automobile, sorry no pics.
Here's a few photos of one at RAC I spotted on Saturday before the toy run. BTW, is there any reason why this Porsche doesn't come equipped with a roll bar? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the roll bar doesn't meet some DOT rule, so you can't have it installed at the factory; you can order it from the Porsche Motorsport catalog though.
Rollbar is not allowed by DOT !! , Neither are plexiglass rear / side windows, the old GT3 seats were'nt allowed , heck the old 911/964/993 RS variants were'nt allow - ..... There are full rollbars and rear roll bar available. I understand that as the car is a 2+2 this is the primary reason why some of the goodies are not allowed - that said a lot of cars have them retrofitted....
GT3/2/RS/etc are 2 seaters...no back seats or belts at all. I don't know the specific DOT rule that prohibits the roll bar...maybe side air bags? I think that was the issue with the euro GT3 seats.
Is Porsche trying to make a statement with these RS's that the rear spoiler has to get bigger and bigger and bigger....
500...125hp per liter, from an NA! I watched a video of the GT3 RS 4.0 the other day and the acceleration from 280 > 322 was insane. Very quick for an N/A car. Porsche has done some really nice stuff with their GTx versions of the 997s.
Could be that a roll bar and a head without a helmet are a serious impact risk in collision. For road use, no doubt the risks outweigh any rollover protection.
Ugly wheels... Black wheels have jumped the shark... unless you're driving an old mitubishi with a coffee can muffler.
possibly. my Wrangler had a roll cage from the factory...with an inch of foam padding all the way around (you could unzip/remove the padding and see the steel cage underneath)
Car regs and truck regs differ. That foam won't do much if a head strikes it at anything more than parking lot speed.
I suggest a Muffler Bypass from Shark Werks! Makes the sound truly monumental! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuUzwjHa5TY[/ame]
there seems to be also a nice owners gift for this car: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220925776460
A couple of photos from this past PCA event at TMS, I really like the blue version but the black looks so menacing.
