A 3.6 RS converted to the 3.8 RS/4.0 RS center-bolt wheel system with interesting livery on the wheels. Okay, now Ive seen it all. Here is a standard one at Laguna Seca Image Unavailable, Please Login
Flatbed loading or unloading of a 4.0 RS may involve planks of wood. Imagine if this RS didn't have the lift system? Even more planks of wood... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Nick your black 2.7 RS is beautiful! You must be proud. Having said that, that orange 3.6 RS, not-so-much. I struggle with why people need to subject their own cars to automotive vandalism (something you would never do to your 2.7 RS I'm certain!), and maybe its because I have so much respect for these cars. Yes, I know its someone's property to do what they want with, but its hard to find any redeeming features to extoll when the unfortunate results of their customization are unleashed upon the unsuspecting public. Perhaps that's why I keep the "modded" cars to a minimum here, after all this is supposed to be a resource for the cars as they existed in standard form, for future generations in case they want to restore. Any cooperation with that is much-appreciated! Meanwhile here is another black 2.7 RS (LHD) kissing up to a 4.0 RS. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Here's the publisher's description of Vol 1: https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/bookazines/the-porsche-911-rs-book.html Here's their description of Vol 2: https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/2952/s/the-porsche-911-rs-book-volume-2/ I found Vol 2 on Amazon US: The Porsche 911 Rs Book Volume 2: c: 9783293553941: Amazon.com: Books
The 3.8 RS is a true Homologation car. The factory press release on the 3.8 RS states that: "The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the foundation for Homologating the race version of the 911 GT3 and will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009..." Basically, this means that the very purpose of the 3.8 RS was to provide Porsche Ag with a Homologation model which conforms with Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA)'s GT3 class, for use in a range of Racing Series. Thus the 2011 GT3 RSR was borne in accordance with the A.C.O. LMGT2 Regulations and the FIA Article 257 (Technical Regulations for Series Grand Touring Cars). The Porsche 997 GT3 RS 3.8 (street legal version) was homologated January 2010. Interestingly, the RSR had just 5bhp more than the RS, at 455 hp (335 kW) at 7,800 rpm max. torque 450 Nm. The RSR was state-of-the-art Porsche Ag race-car and it sold for a whopping 410,000 Euros ($541,080 / £342,740). The 3.8 RS are very special cars. The factory goes on to state that like the RSR the 3.8 RS has "even more engine power, lower weight and shorter transmission ratios, as well as upgraded body and suspension components". "The naturally-aspirated RS power unit now displaces 3.8 liters and delivers even more power, while revving up even faster to its 8500 rpm redline". "Dynamic engine mounts are standard and serve to improve the car's handling to an even higher level * The American version of the RS has a standard rear window (not plexiglas) and the smaller 911 fuel tank to comply with rules of SCCA, Grand-Am, and IMSA (for Grand-Am races, the central locking wheel nut is replaced with the standard five-lug pattern required under Grand-Am rules). Speaking of Homologation cars, upcoming at the Gooding Scottsdale Auction (January 16 & 17, 2015) is this barely run-in 1,300-mile PTS Signal Green 3.8 RS. One of just 4 built that I know of (there can't be many more). Signal Green (W25) 3.8 RS with factory DZM black-out package, sport exhaust, PTS roll-cage, with a perfect build specification. Fully documented from new with CPO through 11/17. This car is known to me to belong to a prominent Porsche Rennsport car collector, so it has excellent provenance.
