$250,000? Jeez...didn't think they were going for that much over MSRP...even with 7k miles.

I think for a buy and hold vehicle, it's a good buy. I can see these being collectable in the future. For a fun driver, not so much. Personally, I'd save $100k or whatever and buy a pristine 997.2 GT3RS if I was looking for such a car and had the means. I'm not a fan of buying without the intention of driving. That being said, I love the GT3RS4.0 and massively applaud Porsche for building it.

I agree, 4.0 will become very collectible (already is to some degree).

I can definitely see it being a collectible and appreciating...no question. I was just surprised to see the price that high for one that isn't brand new. You can get a CGT for not that much more...a V10 and carbon tub no less. Plus you can take the roof off! :)

I agree. However my friend has a 4.0 with less than 500 miles on it, and I think even with its rarity it is over priced. My dealer sold one with much less miles for less money just a few months ago. Should have bought it then if I knew they had one. I let them know I wanted one and they have been keeping an eye out but very few have come up on the market in the US. If you any other ones come up on the market, let me know. I am going to talk to my friend about if the car is worth the price with all the miles it has. For perspective, this car with 310 miles sold for $249,000 as well. http://www.porscheofnorthhouston.com/web/used/Porsche-911-GT3-RS-4.0-2011-Houston-Texas/4631563/
I am looking at this car more to help fill my Porsche GT car collection more than using it as a daily driver.

Apparently the 4.0 market is very hot, a few PTS cars have sold for 260+.... very hot items right now..

PS Do you have a CGT?

If not Id go after that rather then a 4.0... the 4.0 is great and all but for 100k more you can have a CGT.... One of the last manual supercars.

^^There's a CGT for $282.5k buy-it-now on Ebay. "Only" 13k miles...not sure if that's considered high in the Pcar community as it would be in Fcars. $34k extra for that instead of the Champion 4.0...hmm...easy choice imo.

The CGT is a great car but would rather spend the money elsewhere, such as on the Dino I just purchased. The thing about the 4.0 is the market is going up for them. The CGT was so over produced that even in this market where most cars are going up, the CGT is going down.

Didn't Porsche build about 1200 CGT's? I guess it's all relative ... with 400 Enzos, but Ferrari build over 1200 F40's, or? Hasn't hurt F40 values .... Hope CGT are falling since I'd love to have one, but my gut is they aren't. :(

Anyway buy what you love and lust for, that is most important! Congrats on the Dino.

I was offered 6 months ago a 5,000 mile 4.0 for $190K and was too late by 4 hours of getting that car.

From what I've heard, that car is in need of a clutch, and valve adjustment service, which would be about an additional $20k.
Personally, I'd rather have an RS 4.0 (by a slim margin), but I think I'm in the minority.

Cgt's r increasing in value.... They were in low 300's a year and a bit ago.... 4.0's r awesome, but lets b real it still a 911.... A cgt is in a totally different league

I love the RS but I can't see the 4.0 keeping such a high value long term. Its not that much different to a 3.8 and still water cooled. I would as soon buy a 997RS for half the price. At 250k you could both buy a 2.4 911s and a 997 RS.

It's the last manual GT3. That will add to its value perception over time. I think it will always be a 150K+ car, and I'd personally be just as happy with any 911 RS Porsche has made.

Manual + 4.0 + rarity = a classic, IMO. I think the engine will be just as, if not, more a part of its overall value as time goes on. Porsche just knocked it out of the park with this one, and that will be appreciated for a long time.

As more and more cars go to the dual clutch boxes, people like me will forever long for a top performer with a stick shift, and that's what this is. A least through my generation, there will always be a buyer for manual super cars (I hope).

Exactly. The 4.0 is the palladium of GT3s. It's the largest displacement, most powerful, most exclusive GT3, and it's the last one with a stickshift. It will always hold value, maybe not $250k, but I believe that a well-kept example will probably never dip below $100k.

I agree with this as well. I don't think it will command sky high prices either, but being what it is and where the new ones are headed I think it's safe to assume that it won't dip below the 100k mark for a loooong time (if ever). Even 996 GT3s go for around 50-65k.

Wait on the new GT3, take the $100K extra u woulda spent and put it into something that'll give u a sure return rather than to sit on a car hoping for it to produce.
