The a/c compressor of my '74 GT4 needs a new seal. The compressor is an Aspera-Frigo HG 700 AP, according to the shop manual. My a/c shop will order spare parts, but maybe needs the York (or of any known supplier) cross-reference number. Does anybody have it?

    Regards
    Harry

Hmmmm, shouldn't a good ac shop have the cross reference numbers for you, not you for the shop??

Good point, in fact the shop tries to get the part. But I can "smell" some trouble of the trial and error category. Just want to make use of the experiences made by other Ferrari owners to avoid this.

    Best regards

Harry unless you want to go for complete originality I would get rid of the Aspera(york) and upgrade to a Sanden rotary type compresso. They are more efficient. The Aspera is a 2 stage compressor whilst the Sanden is a 8 stage compressor from memory

It seems to me to be a touchy procedure to replace the seal on an AC compressor. Many have tried it; many have had leaks. I did one myself and it leaked. I suppose there are some who can do it properly but they are a small minority.

Ditto previous poster's comment about originality and using a Sanden. After my bad result replacing a compressor seal, I converted to a Sanden and have lived happily ever after.......

I think the problem is the poor quality Aspera compressor.
Replacing the Aspera seal seems to rarely work,
while I have replaced york seals without problems.
I would use a rebuilt york before trying to fix the Aspera.
    I put a Sanden on my 308...

The seal is close to one of the York/Tecumseh seals, but is not an exact match. I found one that worked, but needed some modifications to fit properly (custom shim/spacer)

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
If I choose to put in an CCI ER210R, will the clutch of the Aspera fit?

    Regards

Yes- if it's the same as the 308 clutch/coil.
