    Hello everyone,

My GT4 looks to have had an attempt to repaint the engine cover and bonnet vents, but the finish isn't as great as it could be. Can anybody confirm whether these should be painted or anodised? If it's the former, were they satin or matt black?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Paul

Good questions. Mine are painted with SEM trim black satin. Not sure if they were anodized.

Mine are anodized in somewhat of a satin black. There has been a question in the past over the vent finish on GT4s. IIRC, it was Robert Garven who was docked concours points for having anodized vents identical to my originals so there is some dispute as to what is "original". Probably more of a "parts supplier of the day" argument.

Thanks for the responses so far guys - so not a straight forward question then!? (I'm rapidly learning that there aren't many when 70's Ferraris are concerned! :)

I'm leaning towards anodising mine as I suspect it'll be a harder wearing finish.

    Cheers,

    Paul.

I don't have my car here ATM, but I believe that they are anodised. I have owned it since 1985 and I don't think anyone would have stripped the paint and anodised them prior to then.
