Morning all...I'm replacing the coolant hoses on my '75 GT4 and it seems that there are no hose clamps fixing the rubber connectors between the two main tubes running down the middle of the chassis and the extension pieces entering the engine bay....in fact, I can't even see how one would get a clamp in there. Is this correct??

Some pieces of coolant hose are used as "protective anti-vibration sleeves" to protect parts of the Alum coolant tubes from having contact with the chassis -- i.e., there's not really a "joint" there. All of the functional connections should have clamps and be accessible -- check the SPC illustrations at the FerrariUK spare parts site (in fact, you don't want anything touching the Alum coolant tubes except the protective sleeves).

Glad to be of minor assitance.

Don't be shy about adding a few more pieces of protection if it needs it (the coolant tubes shouldn't even touch each other). On my ex-308, the previous Owner/Shop had added a nylon tie to hold the coolant tube that passes in front of the alternator pulley over towards the gas tank mounting strap (and it had the welded-up scar from pulley contact on the inside face of the tube ;)) -- the Alum tube was/is so soft that the nylon tie was starting to cut into the Aluminum! They had also added a protection piece on the coolant tube that passes by the big threaded stud that sticks out of the clutch area on the LH side just for extra insurance (that I left in place).

What I ran into on mine was that the coolant tube you're referring to....between the alternator and the passenger side fuel tank....actually was close enough to the tank that it eventually rubbed a hole in the tank!! Go figure.....

Also make sure that you slide a piece of hose onto the pipe that goes around the battery and up to the top of the radiator. Mine was rubbing on the battery and cutting a groove in the pipe.
