I'm looking for a driver-side, chrome Cromodora-Astro III mirror. Please PM me you've got one. Thanks! Noag
GT4 Brothers, I am looking for a pair if anyone has a line on them. I think I will keep my CA mirrors but would like a set to go with the car. Rob
Just rebuilt my mirror using bits from another, different Cromodora Astro mirror. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have no need for this, but it is still in my garage! Does anyone need my chinese Astro knockoff? The gasket around the mirror is thicker than a real one, and the base has a rougher texture than a real Cromodora. 25$ plus shipping? I am interested to get a pair of original and good condition cromodora mirror for my GT4. Anyone has a pair to let go ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I couldn't wait to replace my Astro III with a pair of Vitaloni Californias back in the '80s. I'm sure it went into the trash... what I would give to have it back now. Anyhow, I recently bought a pair of Astros for my new GT4; one is correct and the other is close enough for now. For all I know, they were sloppy seconds from someone on this thread. I have two questions that you observant folks are probably able to answer: 1. My correct mirror has the Astro III / Italy mark along the bottom edge if mounted on the left side. If I bought a duplicate for the right side, the mark would be flipped and would be visible on the top edge. Did Cromodora make a different set for the right hand side? What say you folks with RHD cars? 2. I recall the base being mounted with the larger end in front and the tapered end in back... but I've seen a couple of photos with this reversed. Which is correct? Happy New Year to all, and thanks in advance for any advice and counsel.
I have two questions that you observant folks are probably able to answer: Bought my car new in 75, it has the marks flipped one side to the other. Base is large end to the front. Cheers, W.
Funny that you mention the RHD factor. When l had my GT4 a few years back it only came with the one Cromodora mirror on the drivers side. My garage was quite narrow and l desperately needed a second mirror. I was able to source a second mirror but it too came off a RHD car so it fitted perfectly on the left hand side but needed to be turned upside down leaving the writing upside down as well. I lived with that inconvenience in trade for a passenger side mirror.
Thanks, MT. That is exactly my dilemma as I tidy up 10568. I might even go back to a single mirror. Just curious, though... when my LHD car has the mirror attached, the "Cromodora Astro III / Made in Italy" can only be seen if you're on the ground looking up at the bottom lip of the mirror. Is that the same for you on the RHD side... text on the bottom? If so, that means Cromo must have had two different part numbers.
Regarding the debate over Cromodora vs. Vitaloni, the following drawings were taken from the 1975 and 1976 Owner's Manuals for North America. It appears that Cromodoras were shown in 1975, but the 1976 drawing has Vitaloni. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am still looking for a nice set. I really like the California mirrors but would like to have a "correct" set!
I believe my GT4 1975 oroginaly has the cromodora Astro lll , where can I find the original set ? Pls pm me if you have a set for sale. Or if is there re manufactured set ? Thanks
I am having Astro IIIs installed on both sides. Can anyone provide measurements for mounting locations? Much appreciated. Thanks! Jack.
My driver side (and only side) Astro folds down at around 80-90mph (on the track....) Does this happen to everybody else?
My passenger side on my ex GT4 used to do the same.. Just took a bit of tightening to cure that problem.. It does require unscrewing it from the door to tighten the nut from memory... 10 minute job at best.
