I have a 1979 euro GT4 with carbs and a single dizzy. It has the magnetic impulse electronic ignition which was only used for a few years. I have a suspicion that one of the mag. pickups is faulty and would like to change it,this requires dizzy removal. I have a 105 series Alfa where its a simple case of setting the engine on TDC (noting rotor position) undo a holding bolt(s) and remove it.Replacing it is a straight out reverse procedure.(as long as you dont line up BDC!!!) Can anyone advise as to whether there are any traps in the removal and reinstallation of the 308 dizzy??? Will the above procedure work on the Ferrari??? Please advise.Geoff
Virtually identical procedure: Set the engine at TDC number one cyliner (PM1/4 on the flywheel). Remove distributor cap and observe rotor position; it should be pointing to/near the notch. Loosen three bolts/nuts and remove the distributor.
