    Hi Mike,

This data comes from the web page http://www.redlineoil.com.au/oil-finder.asp for the 308GT4

    ---------------------------------------------
    Motor 10W40 (* Racing- use Race Oils) @ 9.0 Litres = 10 US Quarts
Manual Gearbox Red Line '75W90' GL5 Gear Oil @ 4.8 Litres = 6 US Quarts
    Rear Diff combined with trans
Cooling System Use WaterWetter (Pink) to improve temperature control and reduce corrosion. 1x355ml bottle with distilled water. @ 1 Bottles
Fuel System Red Line SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner every 10,000 kms. @ 1 Bottles
    ----------------------------------------------

If the 75W90NS were an option I would have thought they would offer it as an alternative.

I had a quick browse of the US Redline site to see it if concurred but I couldn't find an oil-finder option.

    Cheers

    George

Well I put about 400Klms on the new engine and all is good.

A few minor hiccups, an oil leak developed from where the oil cooler bolts to the engine block. Just needed to remove the copper washers, heat and clean them up.

My ignition decided to cut out intermittently at then end of a 300Klm run. We limped home at 2500rpm and check all the ignition system earths.

Not a good feeling when the ignition cuts out at 3K and your get a massive backfire from the unburnt fuel.

Tightened up the earths and all was good again. It was pooring rain for most of the 300Klm run so that may have played a part too.

I checked the plug wells, all dry.

I also solved a problem that I had before the rebuild. I was getting an occasional spit back through the carbs and surging at 3000-3200 rpm at cruise in 5th gear.

I reset my BSM ignition module to the original advance curve which had way more advance at 3000rpm than what I was running.

Looks like it's best (for my engine at least) to reach max advance at or around 3K rpm.

I run my engine the same way. Max advance is at about 3300-3500rpm. WHen I first rebuilt my distributors, I set them to factory spec at 5k full advance but it was just not as responsive as I knew it could be.
