Anyone have a source for a new expansion tank sticker? Italian Car parts has a crappy photo of what they sell on their site and, when asked if I could have a clearer picture, they said "no". So, EFF to them. Superperformance has a great image of what they sell, but it seems to be more "square" than rectangular like the OEM sticker (or, at least what I think is OEM). (photo included) I want to send my tank out to get refinished but I do not want to do this without a new sticker... Unless-- Someone can tell me how to remove it, perfectly, without ruining it to be affixed later on... I think that would be impossible. Anything I need to be aware of when having the tank powder coated? Thanks peeps! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have one of these stickers that I got on ebay UK. What is the proper placement on the expansion tank itself?
These are the only pics I have of it. I am pulling the tank tomorrow or monday. I will send better pics then. Cheers! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
after cleaning up some rust with por-15 on the metal underneath the tank, i just fitted a new aluminium header tank from SuperP. The old one had a hole on the ribbing (nice hot fluid to help the rust along and head down to that seam splitting the trunk/wheel arch and engine bay. Mine has a hole now, not a seam...). I debated if I should powder coat or spray the silver tank but just decided against it as i'm not aiming for the concourse. Woudnt mind putting a sticker on though anyway - whats the consensus on the best source for them? Will post a photo of the tank in situ. btw, just had the air scoops out as well for a quick repaint (black primer, with por chassis paint top coat, making sure to get it glossy inside the scoop entrance..who hasnt looked into the air scoop of a dino 246 or 308 and seen several colours and primers and gritty finishes down that hole. So thats a little thing that wont bother me now). However, I was never successful at Rubiks cube. Trying to put both those scoops back in made me wonder if I wasnt going to have the same result. Got there eventually but there was an Oh no moment..
I think you'll have to get a new sticker. Italian Car Parts sells the correct sticker for your car. This is the original expansion tank label on my 1976 GTB. I've seen it mounted the other way too where the wording is rightside up when viewed from behind the engine bay but I'm not sure if those were original stickers. Maybe we should have a poll? Italiancarparts' sticker is excellent quality and correct. They will, however, charge you about 10$ for shipping, when it would fit in a 42cent envelope. They waited almost two weeks before shipping mine. I was terribly unimpressed with such service, but the sticker is excellent. I can check my GT4 for positioning, but it is 4am and I need to go to bed. Jonathan
I noticed the shipping. I was going to call and inquire, but I guess that won't do anything. They hardly respond to emails. I'm not surprised their shipping is delayed. Sent from my iPhone (which probably means I'm sitting at my car confused)
Expansion tank is going out to get powder coated. I am still having a hard time sourcing a true-OEM replacement sticker. Attached is a picture of mine. Here are links to a few available, but none of them are correct. The main difference you can see is the placement of the temperature in respects to the words above them: "radiateur" and "antigel". The one from World Upholstery and Trim appears to come closest to yours. It would be nice if they could remove and reuse yours. Your tank looks like it's in good shape, though.
You can't go wrong here: http://www.rocksauto.ca/index.html. they do concours level restorations. Gerrit http://dino308gt4.com
Also significantly different than mine. Sent from my iPhone (which probably means I'm sitting at my car confused) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a preview Dr....about as good as I can create from the image. To the others with original decals on their tank in later 308s....my 308 is an 1982. Do any of you have an image of your original 82 expansion decal and sizing? Did they change sizing and fonts from this over the years....or are the reproductions just not very good? Already talked to this guy. He is delusional. You, my friend, are on to something!! This is what I am talking about!! PM read. Email sent. Cheers!
Do you have the correct paint sticker i have been looking for this for 10 years.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Once John M and I are done with our tag-team, the world will have a proper repro of this decal. He is a ninja.
@ Robert.....I don't have that on file nor the capability to make it. Needs to be silk screened on foil. But the graphic should be easy enough to create with a complete original and sizing. Vinyl wouldn't look right. I've got an Alps that might print it if I had the material...but still it wouldn't be durable. On the expansion tank for GT4s...I think we have a good file based on a scan that the good Dr sent me...This jpg should be more than adequate for printing. Best Regards, John M
