    Hi, Can anyone confirm the depth of the space allowed for the head unit in a GT4. I have an old Blaupunkt in there at the moment but the guts have "gone" and I want to renew.

    Thinking either one of the new "old style Blaupunkt like the repro Bremen. Lots of buttons and slots though and I'm not an audio in the car kind of guy. I also like the simplicity of the Blaupunkt Skagen and no slots to get filled with stuff. Also thinking of the Continental CDD7418 only because I just put one in my older 911 and it looks good.

    Thoughts very welcome but main thing is the depth of the slot...!

    I took my original dealer-installed head unit out not too long ago, but didn't think to measure it. However, it's an old Blaupunkt from the mid 1970s, so it's not small! I can't imagine a head unit that wouldn't fit, I think there's as much room in there as any car with its head unit in a more "normal" location. Here's a couple of pics if it helps.

    the top Blaupunkt unit you have posted I know is very shallow and should fit the single DIN slot you have. I recently installed one into a Porsche 911 for a customer and was very impressed with the sound quality. The hands free phone mic was also clear in it quality.

    I always wanted to have a nice looking (perhaps 3D printed) black plastic cubby made to replace the radio. You could have a nice bezel around it, perhaps with some chrome to match the interior motif. It’s the perfect shape and size for phones, sunglasses, etc. I literally know no one who listens to a radio in their Ferrari.

    Thanks for all the replies and information everyone. Very helpful. I'm not with my car at the moment - back in the UK. The shop is going to install the head unit at the end of some major work. I ended up going for the Blaupunkt Skagen as it seems the most minimal and least "shouty" of the 3. I'm not expecting to use it much in any case except for the bluetooth phone connection which is essential these days. Photos when its done and dusted...!
