Anyone know where it’s best to lift my '79 gt4, front and back?

    Thanks

I recently did some service work to my car, and modified my personal procedure. Here's my "latest" idea, which worked very well:

Use the stock side jacking point and lift the car up about 5 inches.
Slide 2 peices of 2x12 under the rear wheel - each one about 24" long.
Lower the car back onto the 2x12
Now remove your jack from the side, and jack from the back

You may use the center frame rail that's further forward - NOT the one right at the rear. The one right at the rear is very close to the rear anti-roll bar, and if you use that frame rail you could bend the rear anti roll bar.

Place your jack stands somewhere very safe - that frame rail works well, and there are a couple of non-transverse frame tubes that work.

Do NOT get under the car with the wheels only on the 2x12s. It is NOT safe, as the car could roll off and squash you like a bug.

For lifting the front, you can use the 2x12 tick with the front wheels, but you must show some cleverness about placing the jack and jack stands, bc there are more items to accidentally crush/bend up front.

    Best luck.
