Hello All, In an attempt to finally address the issue of having no seat belts for over a year and looping the belt over the hand brake. In my research I found the GT4 (at least early cars) had a poorly made cap that is prone to cracking. As Snake Oil,the seat belt refurb company, called them the "Exploding Seat Belts". These are very rare and I have not seen the correct set pop up on ebay for a very long time. I think many people replaced them with different belts. I am getting a set 3D modeled and printed. There will be minor enhancements to make sure they are stronger and will not break as easily. For now I am getting a pair printed up that may not be perfect aesthetically, but will function. It is possible to replicate the look and feel for a more concourse correct replacement if anybody is interested. I know these belts were also used on the Daytona and perhaps other period models. Is there anybody who has a need for this? Regards, Spencer Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice! Please put me down for a pair of the "more concours look" for the front. Do you have estimates on timing and price? Thanks, Spencer. Jack
No price estimates yet. Still working on development so a little premature. I will try to make molds and compare to the quality of the 3D printed. But I assume the 3D one may be more expensive. I think I am a month or two out from having a product. If there enough interest I will go for the concourse perfect prototype I will invest in it. For now trying to make sure fitment is right and the mechanism latches properly. Safety first!
Great call, Spencer. Both of mine are cracked so I'd also be interested in a pair of the finished product. Plz PM when you've got them sorted out. Thanks! Noah
I'm in for sure. Great idea. One of mine is cracked and I bought a plastic welder to fix it. I tried glue a few times but doesn't hold up. I would take a few pairs for the front. And maybe the back as they are slightly different.
Cool guys. I think I'll have a prototype by next weekend. I wouldn't be able to do back seats as I don't have them.
Here is the first rough prototype. It is a very low res print but the shape and fit is good, button fits and moves properly in side. You can see the higher profile. This will prevent cracking in the future. Now working on emulating the texture and final product. I will get it as close as I can for you concourse guys but with the raised profile there will be a visual difference. That difference will be for the purposes of safety. Hopefully the judges either don't notice or mark you down. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi all, I am about to print up my final test version. As noted, these are not 100% concourse correct but made to look very similar and have a little added thickness for strength. It is a 100% 3D printed product. The texture is built into the final model. There is no finishing process or paint to chip. It will be a black plastic piece. I'm trying to stay in line with other priced products available - What do you charge for something that doesn't exist - even if it's just a piece of plastic? Well I have to say that the skill and available manufacturing methods certainly make it a lot easier then it must have been before with injection molding and other processes. So I am going to sell a pair for $40.00. I hope that works for everybody. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This cap is all you would need if you have the remaining parts (button, the guide piece and spring). This part alone will click into place and hold with out hardware. It holds everything inside. I'm also considering including the orange "PRESS" sticker as its a good "while you're in there". I'm talking to my vinyl guy tomorrow. I can make a video of the separate parts and assembly process of that would help.
That would great but no need. My shop is on vacation until Monday and I'll check with them then. Thanks!
Stopped by my vinyl wrap shop. They made a great window sticker for my wedding. The "PRESS" stickers are happening and will be included. No extra money. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi All, Okay this is coming together quickly now. Low resolution test print was done yesterday. It looks pretty good! I can't wait to see the high resolution print. Should be in the next day or so. I have the finished product done!!! Take a look. I have noted all those who wanted a pair earlier in the thread. It took 8 hours to print these but I think i can reduce the time. Take a look!!! Sent a message your way. I'm desperately looking for either a buckle or a repair part like you made! - Matt
