    Hi all,
Lately my oil pressure guage was having pmt, going sometimes and mostly not, so gave the motor an oil change last night, new filters etc and purchased a new sender unit.

The old one was a nightmare to remove as I didn't have a spanner thin enough to get into the securing nut, ended up whacking it off with a screwdriver as I figured it was broken anyway, resulting in breaking the old casing.

Was a little concerned on how to fit the new one tightly, so put new copper washer on and fitted it, I couldn't as mentioned, get a spanner into the nut so horsed it up with my hands and gave a little crank with large pliers and a cloth, unfortunatly the housing moved a little and so I stopped, when I turned on the motor I am getting no pressure reading at all, could I have broken the switch? is there a way of testing it or may it have been the sender unit at all? or a relay or something? Im now not getting any oil temp or water temp into the bargain, hoping someone can help, thanks in advance.

My sending unit went out on me too, scared the crap out of me. It was easier to remove the entire housing then remove the sender from the housing. But since you have no water temp now either, sounds eletrical, have you checked your fuses? Or better yet have you replaced them with the new "Birdman" fuse blocks. I highly recommend that for sure!

    Cheers!

I make it a practice to buy necessary specialty tools when doing a job. An additional 10% for a tool isn't noticed in the budget but makes for a more satisfying job.

    Scared me too!;-)
I tried disconecting the wire from it with ignition on and nothing from the gauge (i think thats how you test it anyway) so there doesn't seem to be anything going to the dials, funny enough I noticed that the G light is not working also, Ive had the car over a year and a half now and love it but still new to it and finding my way around it, is there an oil pressure switch somewhere on the engine also?
Looks like it could be something simple but my luck a nightmare to find.
The birdman box is definatley a thing im going to get.
    Thanks

Hi Paul, most of the time I do too but got caught out with this one and thought my spanner would fit so looking to buy something for it in the future, I love adding to my tool collection anyway;-)

I have a NOS oil pressure gauge for a GT4 if you are interesting. PM if interested.

I replaced my sender and the pressure has read perfect for the last 4 years.
