Could anyone tell me where I can find out the exact differences between a series I and series II 308 GT4? In particular the wheels. I'm looking at a 1976 car (Australian delivery) that has Cromodoras but I thought it should have had the 5 spoke wheels given it's a series II. Can anyone shed any light on this?

    Thanks

    Firstly welcome to F-Chat Cactipus.

Best person to contact re 308GT4 wheels is Aircon, send him a PM. He was until recently the owner of an immaculate GT4 and I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

as far as i know, both series came standard with Dino wheels. There was an option of 14x7.5" and in 1979 or so there was also the 16" option (i didn't realise that until a few weeks ago)

The easiest way to tell is from the front, the series 2 cars have the lower foglights behind the grille, the series 1's do not. The series 1 cars were badged Dino, and had no external Ferrari badges, the series 2 cars had a Ferrari badge on the nose and on the rear panel.
However, badges are not a reliable way to distinguish a series 2 car, over the years Dino's in particular have picked up extra Ferrari badges in all sorts of places - ditto wheels, lots of cars have non original wheels.

This site has links to most of the GT4 websites, lots of info there.

If you are keen, then the book "original Ferrari V8" by Bluemel is invaluable.

Thanks for all of the replies. That saves me going out in search of another set of wheels.
Interestingly, it seems that a lot of new buyers must have taken up the option to upgrade the wheels.
Aircon, very sorry to see your car in such a state. Are you going to get another?

    Thanks
