My 330 GTC has finally arrived in PA and I hope to actually lay eyes on it in a few days. Special thanks to Tom S and Randy S for their patience (yes, I mentioned Tom and patience in the same sentence.) Thanks as well to Phil T, Chris, and everyone else who has helped me out along the way--you know who you are.

I hate to bring up the issue of Ferrari reds one more time--I've covered the threads pretty well--but I'm looking for a darker shade than Corsa, one with no orange and no purple, just a pure deep red. Needn't be metallic, a kind of Pozzi red. Is there such a thing? Barchetta?

Thanks to Fchat, too, and everyone who has taken time to reply and offered up wisdom and fact.

    John,

Take a look at this video of the Cars on 5th Show we just held in Naples. From time of 1:22 to 1:24 there is a beautiful GTC in a gorgeous red. Don't know the color but I can find out as I know the owner.

My blue GTC was supposed to be there but we ran out of room on the street for my cars. And I did car display layouts!!

Well thanks again. I've never heard of Nearco but it looks familiar. Did it have another name? It looks to be non-metallic.

In this period, quite a few Ferrari colors were named after successful racehorses. Nearco was a thoroughbred who retired after two undefeated seasons in 1937 and 1938: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nearco

It is a deep, non-metallic red. As an original color, Rosso Nearco is usually found on cars produced from approximately 1969-74. Paint code is 2.664.032. I've seen lists that apply this same code to a color called "Rosso Bordeaux," but I can't verify that this name was ever used by Ferrari.

Certainly didn't know that. Hence Rosso Sir Ivor, I guess. Does anyone know what THAT one looks like?

I've also noticed Rosso Corsa itself is not consistent. To me the color of a Rosso Corsa F-40 is much redder and less orange than that of, say, a Rosso Corsa 308. Better to my eye.

Most likely because the 308 was Rosso Chiaro (popular up to ~1979-80), which when parked next to a car in Rosso Corsa looks more orange.

    BTW, Rosso Nearco looks fantastic!!

I agree. I also once had a BMW M Roadster in Imola Red and I think the two colors are somewhat similar. Very difficult to capture the depth of either of these reds in photographs.
