Side by side comparison is very interesting. The major changes are obvious but the detail tweaks to the design are fascinating too: the C pillar, the space for the rear license etc.

The Lusso by comparison looks much smoother than the FF, seems much more clearly pitched at the Bentley/luxury sports 4x4 segment. The Bentayga isn't my cup of tea but perhaps Ferrari felt encroachment/opportunity?

Leaves the FF feeling more brutish which IMO is no bad thing. I like the difference in tone, almost complementary.

The Name GTE stands for Grand Touring Endurance and was NOT given by Ferrari to the former GT2 Race Cars (458 GTE and 488 GTE).
This was done by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) for grand tourer racing cars used in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and its associated series.

All the GT Cars Racing in the 24 hours of Le Mans are GTE Cars by regulations.

Does that mean that GT3 cars are also GTE's?

no, the GT3 Category is a different Class even when the 488 GTE and the 488 GT3 are very close to each other.

GT3 Cars do not race at the 24h of Le Mans.

There are no GT3 spec cars racing in LM anymore. Both the GTE Pro and GTE Am class use cars that run within the GTE regulation specs.

Ferrari 458/488 GT2 cars are what is used in the GTE series.

    Very good observations :)
IMO the Lusso appears to be more stretched out than the FF Also looking wider
on the rear even though it's based on the same chassis as the FF - amazing what
they can do with design. Interior is a huge improvement - never understood the FF
having THREE vents side by side on the dash.

That rendering is a damned sight prettier than a Panamera. Color dependent, I like the look of the Panamera more than the FF, but that rendering of a GTC4 sedan is heads and shoulders over the Panamera, IMHO. Still blasphemy though.

I see that Fchat is back to bickering about the names of cars, again. Sigh.

LaFerrari sounded retarded at first, now it doesn't bother me at all, to be honest. GTO got on many people's tits, and still is...

Looks like a corvette in drop top form from the front 3/4 view. Not a bad thing but not what a ferrari buyer would want at 3 times the price. Kinda like a 365 GTC4 looks like a chevy monza from the rear 3/4 view....Ill duck and run for cover now lol

Excellent point. Product delivery is everything, the name pretty much irrelevant. At an extreme how about Fat Man and Little Boy; neither was particularly fat, little or male.

Best looking new Ferrari in over a decade IMO, if the photos are indicative of what it really looks like.

I've always been a sucker for shooting brake styling.

Looking hard at both cars, I find myself liking the FF for its subtlety and complexity of forms, a typical Pininfarina thing. PF knows how to blend different visual themes into an integrated whole. The creases are softer and more subtle. The Lusso strikes me now as sharp, and bordering on Asian generic.

    I'll run for cover now.

After 4-5 years every model is replaced by a successor which must outperform and appear different.

Even the Halo car, is replaced, usually every ten years.

Although many owners find the replacement of their beloved model a threat ...a different model is actually a blessing too. Why? It makes their car that much more unique.

My friend just got his Corvette back from Callaway. It is a 2015 Z06.

Callaway brought it up to 757 HP. Here is the video he made.

Hope he keeps it for a while. I did the same thing in 2012, used Lingenfelter rather than Callaway, sent a brand new 2012 from buds Chevy directly to the shop. Great way to add $20,000 in first year depreciation and limit your resale market by about 95%. Sounded like a good idea at the time. I tend to get bored with my rides in the year though. Really took a bath.

Chevy stole the Pininfarina design for their Monza. Hyundai did that to the 456 when they built the Tiburon, too. Jeremy Clarkson commented that the 575M looked like the Z06 Corvette.

A threat? No... happy it's out. It's just trying too hard. No subtlety. Marketing driven, all macho. PF balances male/female, round and square, and they knew how to IMPLY a line, not just hit you over the head with it. The 458 and FF are their high end work in my view.

Apologies for nitpicking, everything is marketing driven. Even a designer or engineer who is given a blank sheet and limitless budget is part of a marketing process.

What I guess you mean is Ferrari has gone to the dark side, has thrown its principles and flair out of the window, and is now in pursuit of profit only. So a far cry from the principled days when Enzo only made road cars to pay for his racing? ;)

The FF was as full on profit driven marketing as I've seen. The FF was introduced for the emerging markets - and IMO was a brilliant idea. The Lusso complements the FF, it's far less macho than the FF. Much smoother, targeted to a softer audience that is open to luxury top end four seater/4x4s. You don't think Aston will join the party at some point too now they've Mercedes to help them?

The FF and Lusso are IMO calibrated differently, and you can relax, the FF will be seen as the more macho of the two so will have a market position. The Lusso in IMO shows Ferrari is at the top of its game. I drive a German SUV diesel as my daily driver and hadn't considered an FF as necessary for me. But the moment I saw the Lusso's pictures I smiled. Marketing? Sure, the very best and I hope it continues to make me smile.
