Re-reading Janos Wimpffens magnum opus "Time and Two Seats" once again and I can't help but be impressed by the scope of the research. Among other things there are multiple examples of outdated cars being entered at Le Mans in totally different era such as the 917K-81 in 1981, a McLaren M12 in the 1980s and 935s racing into the 1990s. Certainly the best and most interesting would be a reserve entry at Le Mans in 1984!,

    26 The car did not arrive Ferrari 250 GTO - Ferrari V12 N/A B
    Scuderia Bellancauto -
    Front-engined
Result: did not arrive (Reserve entry)
    Sponsors: unknown Colours: unknown
    Tyres: unknown

Wimpffen lists the entry as Violatti but I guess they are one and the same. If it had of entered qualifying with 300bhp, 880kg and 1960s aero it would have been outclassed by the 600bhp, 900kg turbo group B cars. Fun times.

Scuderia Bellancauto was the racing team of Fabrizio Violati in Rome.

Look at the Bellancauto truck in the background, not on #2025 GT.
    Monza 4 April 1982.

I am assuming the entry was made as a celebration of the GTO rather than a serious attempt to race a 22 year old race car but whatever the reason, it still blows the mind.

Violati's 512 BB LM re-named "BBB512" for Berlinetta Boxer Bellancauto, here during the scrutineering at Le Mans June 1981.

Do you think the transporter (Fiat 662 it seems) was at Le Mans in 1981 ? And in 1984 ?
