New to me, and from what I have been told is a soon to be released book on GTO 5573GT. Book is by Doug Nye, and it's an edition of 1000 copies. I've seen a couple of pages, and this is high on my "to buy" list. Does anyone know anything more, as well as what the price will be?

    @Doug Nye

Let’s see if a response arrives here.....:)

By the way, must every worthwhile new book on our favorite subjects be a “limited edition”?

Another GTO book. Just what the world needs!

Dare I suggest that it would be quite nice if Mr Nye were to finish some of his other projects ;)

Personally, I’m not a big fan of books about a specific car. But I’ll wait for the details and the price before deciding.

I'm in general agreement with you on this, but I have made, and do make just a few exceptions... and this is one one them.

    Hahahahaha, agree.

I'll just throw it on my GTO book pile. :)

I second (or third) your opinion on books on just one chassis number though I am guilty of buying the single model Porter Press books that are very enjoyable reading.

I do not get the impression that this book is focused on a single example of the GTO 64. The Foreword suggests it is about all seven 64-style bodied GTOs (originally in the GTO 64 style, or re-bodied first series). Perhaps Doug Nye could comment and clarify.

If that’s the case I’d be more likely to buy it.

This fabulous new book focuses about the three genuine non-rebodied Series II GTOs, namely 5571, 5573 and 5575.
It also clarifies some mix-up in race histories of 5573 and 5575 (think "copy and paste" from other GTO books published during the last 50 years......).
Doug Nye went to great lengths to find new information and documents, previously unheard of.

I wonder what happened to his book: Enzo Ferrari, The photographic biography that he has been working on ?

That has been in the "soon to be released" category for years.

Delayed until end of 2022, at least.

    Wow, end of 2022 !!

That has got to be a record for one of the longest periods from announcing a book until the actual release date.

Try BRM Volume 4 for that record (author one D Nye).

I'm sure this book will be great but I have only recently lugged The Ultimate Ferrari 250 GTO from the doorstep, where the delivery man left it, now here's another book on (part of) the same subject whilst other books on at least as interesting but less well covered subjects remain unfinished or unwritten.

    I hear you buddy.

I was one of the guys pushing for a 'bible" version of the 308/328 series (one of the most popular and famous models ever sold which I fear will remain unmade) while the GTO books keep stacking up. :(

Doug Nye is one of the best in the business. We should cherish people like him as artists! I've been waiting for 'Inside Track' for years, and I was not disappointed. And while I was waiting, I never lacked any reading material.

I appreciate your view, but it is a matter of heritage. 250 GTO's are the Rembrandts' of automotive history.

Unfortunately I think the answer will usually be Yes. To produce 750 or 1000 good quality books is a considerable investment, which the publisher will look to recoup quickly. Also, many Ferrari books are in reality 'niche' products, and therefore have limited appeal. Even a book about a relatively modern Ferrari such as the 550/575 does not appeal to a person with a passing interest in Ferrari. Books about Ferraris from the 1950s/60s the same - niche products.

I agree they may be the Rembrandt but there are only so many times they can de discussed, photographed and debated about.
