Having noticed reservations expressed about the service provided by some suppliers concerning 'GTO/64', may I risk breaking FC commerciality rules by mentioning that anyone interested in acquiring copies of the book can actually order direct from [email protected] or visit the Watermark Publications website www.gto64.com.

I must say I am really grateful for the interest expressed here by you fellow enthusiasts. No commercial advantage for yrs trly, incidentally, my boss has already spent the fee (oops! Now I'll be in trouble. :().

That’s what I did initially, and I can vouch that the experience was easy and pleasant. Thanks, Doug!

Yes, it's always best to turn directly to the publisher. And anyone who hasn't done so yet, should do so, because the book is really great. Last weekend, again I spent several hours reading in the book and it could become the first Ferrari book in ages which I read completely from the beginning to the end.

I still think that we have some issues with the layout and the treatment of some images (which is compensated by the selection of many rare and unseen motives which provide new insights). BUT: The text is absolutedly brilliant, and I don't write that because I know Doug Nye is following this thread. It's really pure joy how many details he unearthed und how he puts different events and developments into historical perspective - apart from the very entertaining style of writing which you rarely meet in a car book.

Bought my copy (286) yesterday from Disch Fachbuchhandlung in Hamburg (Germany).
Cannot recommend this shop high enough, excellent service!
    Beautiful shop full of gems.
Anyone visiting Hamburg (great city, lots of interesting sites), should not miss this wonderful bookstore. Matthias Disch is a pleasant and knowledgeable owner. Please folks keep bookstores like these in the air!

Also got myself a copy of the new book about the Mercedes-Benz C111 and all its derivatives, published by Motor Buch Verlag in german. An incredible volume, highly recommended!

Even in a big car nation as Germany there’s hardly any of them left. Internet is great, but it just kills small businesses.

Same here in Australia which is a huge car obsessed nation, usually only one physical motoring book shop per state.

In some areas not even that.

Speedreaders is the premier resource for those interested in thoughtful and informed reviews of new automotive and racing books as well as some that are not so new, or are on related subjects such as aircraft and boats and engineering in general.

I almost finished reading the book now, just 20 or so pages to go. And there is one aspect about the book which hasn't been appreciated in the reviews, yet: the more you advance through the book and the more the GTOs were used then by private racers in Italian hillclimbs, the more you learn about small Italian villages in the hills. Because Doug Nye spared no effort (research!) to describe the scenery and even the history of the villages around the hills and the history of the particular hillclimb races. So, in the end, you are best prepared for your next holiday trip to Italy ;) Great reading!

Thanks for that - but if I could venture off topic - may I wish everybody here a very Happy Christmas - despite everything that circumstance is throwing at us all...

    And to you too Doug.

Thanks for your assistance in 2021 and I look forward to seeing what the next year has in store for both my library and the world as a whole.

    Cheers

I just received #351 regular edition. Ordered it in late December direct and they wisely suggested waiting until after the holidays to ship. Arrived in perfect shape from DHL. So looking froward to reading because last night I finished vol. 1 of the Porter Press work so a perfect segway to this work.

    Mine is #376.
It arrived today at noon. Great service with Motors Mania, Pau, France.
Barely opened, and my first impression obviously confirms all the previous comments. I will now take the time to discover in detail the extraordinary richness of this fantastic book. Thank you very much, Mr. Nye !
