GTO Finally Here!!

I agree with all of it (including how STUNNING the car is). The GTO is the hot ticket right now, and it is awesome, but it is a 599. The Enzo is an Enzo. The GTO will depreciate, especially when the 599 replacement hits. But the Enzo will be unaffected by its "replacement", just as the 288, F40, and F50.

 

Nope. The Goat hits harder and is less disco. Coolest car they've done since the Forty, IMO. Can see how one might make the trade angling for a bigger $$ return down the road, though.

I would most definitely keep the GTO. It is faster and better looking (IMO) than the Enzo. Plus, Ferrari deemed it worthy of the GTO moniker (and I think it is). I am a huge fan of mid-engine supercars, but there is nothing more pure than a front engine, V12 Ferrari. Most of the greatest Ferrari's ever built were created from this formula.

If you're looking at it from an investment standpoint, I think you need not worry. I fully expect the value of the 599 GTO to appreciate. This is a HIGHLY desirable car. My only concern is the rapid advances in technology. Porsche claims the 2011 GT2 RS can lap the Nurburgring in 7:18. I expect the 599 GTO to be in that ballpark. But this is a considerable jump in performance over supercars of the last 3-4 years (roughly 6 seconds). If technology continues to improve at such a rapid pace, and another 6ish second improvement is gained in performance in just 2-3 years, I think it will make the current batch of supercars slightly less desirable. But never the less, I think the 599 GTO will go down in history as one of the great Ferrari's.

Gorgeous with the black wheels. But i too would swap it for an Enzo. I havent driven a GTO but the Enzo blew my mind. It's mind blowing fast and precise and yet very driveable around town.

 

I say get the Enzo. Will hold value.

 

I'd say keep your cars. Sure the enzo is a great car but these are two great cars. the 599 GTO will likely hold good enough value and in the end there's really no replacement for driving an old ferrari.

 

Since Ferrari is expected to unveil a convertible version of the 599 with the GTO engine at Pebble Beach in a couple weeks, the GTO is not the "ultimate".

George, I would suggest you make the deal for the Enzo. With Ferrari building the convertible version, I'd be concerned about the GTO's place in the hierarchy.

If you still want the next "Enzo", surely having an Enzo wouldn't hurt your chances with Ferrari and your dealer

 

Wrong, at least according to my dealer...I was told will "unveil" the so-called "spyder" version...basically an HGTE with a soft drop top. Not even close to GTO in performance or special parts...

I just meant "ultimate" as the 599 GTO being my favorite ferrari.

 

The convertible will be more valuable but that doesn't make it the ultimate in my opinion. Dare i say the same thing as people said about the 16M... a serious track car can't (or shouldn't) be a convertible. I know lots of GTOs will never see any tracks, but if someone does want a hardcore track car, it's probably the hardtop they will choose. I know I would!

Regardless of the 599 "Spider" having a GTO engine (which I guess we'll have to wait and see), my opinion stands... make the trade for the Enzo!

 

I would go with Taz with this one. The ENZO is arguably the top of the foodchain. It is always more rare, more desired, and will likely always hold it's value better than the 599 GTO.

In regards to newer and performance, the 250 GTO is sluggishly slow compared to todays technology. Heck stock 348 and 328's will likely out acclerate it to 60mph, but I would still take that rare 250 GTO over any car in the world.

The 599 GTO is one of the greatest cars in the world today, but it remains to be seen where it truly belongs. Will it be valued along with the 288 GTO, F40, F50 (as the ENZO is) or more along the lines of the 512M or 575 Superamerica (rare desirable cars, but not super Ferraris).

The GTO is an unbelievable achievement in engineering terms but I think people will forget about it once we start hearing more about the 599 and Enzo replacements.

The GTO will not be the latest and greatest for much longer. It will suffer badly from depreciation and it's claim to fame as the fastest production Ferrari will soon be gone. Meanwhile the Enzo will always be regarded as one of the best, most iconic cars ever. It will continue to appreciate in value and, like the GTO, F40 and F50, it will always be sought after by collectors.

It's definitely a tough choice but how often does the opportunity to attain a low mileage Enzo come up?
