GTO values

One member traded his, and of course some more money, for an enzo almost upon delivery. I don't think these will be available in large numbers but they certainly will be available down the road.

And as you know, the experts outlining their expertise in this (and most of these threads) are nearly uniformly neither owners nor anyone that has ever even driven/ridden in one....or likely an Enzo, 250 or 288, for that matter.

That's what makes them expert, of course

Who knows what $value will be assigned to these cars in 5 or 10 years?

But for GTO owners, I'd stongly suspect the "experience and passion value" will be exceptionally high, indeed, unforgettable, forever--whether or not they always have one in their garage .

We were all foaming at the mouth over the F430 Scuderia and 16M only a year ago.

The smart move: Sell now and collect the premium before it disappears.

I'm betting the GTO follows the 16M's depreciation curve. If the replacement car puts out similar power and has better looks, the swing can end up being as much as $150k to the downside in less than two years.

 

Who cares! I like to live my life in the present....not the future. Plus that will be a small price to pay for the pleasure I get from driving this thing.

 

Are we talking premium in the US sense or on a worldwide scale because if its worldwide I am pretty sure there are going to be places where a GTO can only go but up in price. Its the only basic demand and supply theory.

 

You have a replacement 18 months out with a new engine, a superb DCT box, possibly KERS and next gen FF brakes and electronics for a base of less than $50k over the current 599. The parallels of the 458 to Scuderia will play out again. The new 599 replacement is going to be a game changer.

 

That may very well be so but I highly doubt the car is going to "feel" like a GTO, I very much doubt it will be as raw and as racey feeling.

 

seems like a fantastic car but at the end of the day it is a better faster version of a regular production car, that being the case I think really hurts the chances of it ever being considered an iconic model in the lineup....

Seriously...how on earth would you 'know' anything like what you theorize above? Have you ever "sat" in a GTO, much less driven one? If you had (and with no disrespect meant to wonderful cars)--you'd 'know' its not a 16m, or 430 Scud, or CS.

That aside, however, as other owners have said in this tread numerous times--yes those of us that actually get to drive a simply fantastic, one of kind experience, whenever WE choose to turn the key--do you really think we really "care" whether it ends up appreciating or depreciating 20-30% over the next few years?

Possibly you should stick to older models--they have reasonably established depreciation curves and you'll be able to calculate your expected "loss" against some phantom enjoyment premium.

 

as the owner of a new 599 GTO, you know i have to agree ... nothing really special about them at all. Heck, basically just a re-badged version of the 599 GTB ... :yawn:

So my advice, to anyone waiting for delivery: before it's even titled, sell that thing ... to ME I'll take that "toxic asset" off your hands IMMEDIATELY. i'm just generous that way ...

Let's call it the "werewolf 599 GTO bailout offer", or if you prefer, the "599 GTO stimulus plan". Remember, i'm here for you ...

 

I still don't fully understand why people always bring up the fact that the 288 GTO was homologated for racing. It has as much racing history as the 599 GTO.

As long as Ferrari continues to schedule their product releases as they are currently, I will most certainly be sticking to older models. The wait for a sub-$200k Scuderia has been surprisingly short.

The thread title is called, "GTO values." The bottom line is that a 599 replacement that looks beautiful and performs similarly to a GTO will affect GTO prices. Objectively speaking, the GTO is another product in an existing product line. When a future offering appears, used GTOs will appear in the market and values will drop. It will be much clearer to you when the replacement is unveiled (assuming, once again, that Ferrari nails the looks and performance).

Like the first GTB buyers, many of the current GTO buyers value their time more than the money and will happily eat the cost of being early adopters. However, if you're a GTO owner for whom the car's residual value is a concern, again, the smart move is to get out soonish to earn your profit and a bit after (closer to the reveal of the new car) to maintain a solid chance of breaking even.

 

If the 599 Replacement looks anything like the FF, current GTO owners hit the jackpot. Our cars will skyrocket. Sorry, couldn't resist. I loved every Ferrari ever made until the FF.

 

Count me in ... and let's put straight pipes and slicks on at least one of them and go drive the hell out that beast on the track.
