So I was looking through the very excellent Dino Compendium by Matthias Bartz (every Dino owner and enthusiast should have one, it is an essential reference and just a wonderful book to own) and I saw a picture of the GTS tonneau cover. I thought this is a great thing to have. Obviously not for driving - but when you go out with the roof behind the seats and stop maybe for lunch, instead of having to put the roof up you can put on this tonneau cover in seconds. So I looked closely at the photo and instruction pamphlet printed in the Compendium and designed a cover as close to the original as I could... and it is fantastic. I love it! It fits very nicely and will come in very handy. What do you guys think? There is a poll... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

It doesn’t look like a bad effort. Some of these were made as replicas and were pretty good.

I have several originals, which are like hens teeth. At the end of the day, finding something usable is the idea. I think you did a great job by figuring out the shape and mounting areas.

Want to try and make some other fun stuff?

Very nice Iain! Yours looks much more like the original but then you had a pattern to trace. I had to eyeball mine a bit.

Good job, so long as it works what the hell.

Top tip - dont get sucked into making them - it isnt worth it and it will cost you money. Ask me how I know ;)

Good advice, thanks! I am not in the business of trying that anyway.
BTW how many did you make and try and sell? I would think they would be quite popular...

didnt make any tonneau covers but made the full repro tool kits and many other obsolete accessories such as Shell Dusters, AGIP window coths, window winders etc etc.

All sold reasonably well but you dont make any money out of them, more for the challenge as others who do it will testify.

There was zero interest in them as most GTS owners will be better off using the targa roof panel. I only had a second one made as a forum member PM'd me and asked if I could get one made for him.

These appear to be the only photo's I have of it on my car and were taken at the trimmer's workshop when the car was being restored.

I bought three from FAF in Atlanta back in the day for I think $50 each. They had a stack of them so I pulled three off the top. Nice to have but doubt I will ever install it.

Hi Tony, it is Blu Dino Metallizzato 106-A-72. According to Matthias Bartz only 256 made in this colour.
Maybe this one is the only Euro-spec "C&F" in this color?
It's a 1974 and was completely restored in 2017 back to original everything... I think the colour is really fantastic, just the right shade of blue. I will start a new thread with resto photos soon.
In the background is the 1970 L-series. Now all that is needed to complete the triumvirate is a 206!
    Regards.

My 308GTS is the same colour, it is a really nice shade of blue and really suits the dino with the curvey body, especially in the sunlight. I just had it resprayed and it looks awesome imho.

My 246 is a RHD C&F GT model in rosso bordeaux, and only 114 made in that colour.

Look forward to seeing the resto photos.
