Having broken all the rules about not closing and locking the vent windows on the GTS, I now find myself with a latch that's disappeared and a window that's missing a substantial sliver of glass. My BAD! However, I do have an NOS replacement vent window with adhesive type latch attached and proper DOT markings. Question is: How do you take out the old vent and replace it with the new?

I've studied the "exploded" view in the parts catalog, taken off the passenger door panel and window sill padding and exposed the lower hinge (just barely) but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to remove the vent window. I obviously need help!

Anybody done this before and can advise . . . I promise never to close and lock the latch again -- EVER!

    Forever Humble,

    Bill

Jon, yes, that does help. I couldn't see how to take that entire assembly out . . . or I was in self-denial hoping there was an easier way. No such luck! I'll tackle it in the a.m.

    Many thanks,

    Bill

At the lower fulcrum, take the limiting screws out and it will slide down off the top hinge.
Offset it to wherever it takes more kindly, and pull up. Put a little Vaseline through the rubber gasket to make this easier. Regards, Alberto
