the porsche and the 355 gts are the hardest to sell and have the lowest r esale value...the targa is a hybrid that just is not that popular...the targa has a few problems...first of all, you lose a great deal of structural rigidity when you chop the roof...the tops can squeek.....there can be a great deal of back draft at higher speeds that you dont have in a true conv.....now that the conv tops are multiple layers, stiff in the closed position and quiet and the with the presence of a retractable roof, the targa top has lost a great deal of its appeal....i also personally think that coupes and true conv. have better lines.....imo of course....

I was always under the impression that the 355GTS was still getting about 5k+ premium on resale over the Berlinetta. I never thought it was the opposite, correct me if I am wrong.

I am sure the GTS or the half open convertible will coming back... It's already here... the 575 GTC SuperAmerica. It opens half top and hind the top over real hood. The trend nowaday is fully open top with hard top folding like the Mercedes SLK... The GTS with fully removable top may be things of the past. If It will come back, it will not be for awhile, I think.
