no it was owned by emiliana auto dealer in Italy (where i see it in early 90's) then in Japan factory does not own it since A lot of time interesting enough Pasini helped the italian owner putting the car toegether and putting the V12 engine in it ( since it did not fit as originally intended )
Ah...I'm hearing it's a Joe Sackey deal. Anybody know ballpark the prices they are discussing? I can't say I care that much (because I'm sure not buying it!) but I'd be curious as to whether it's in the >$1mil or <$1mil range. I'd have to guess >$1mil for such a special car! cheers, Fred
It was owned by the factory till circa 1986 when Romano Bernadoni talked them out of it. Privately owned since. Tonino Lamborghini has made a non-running mock-up of sorts, which suggests to me that he would rather like to have the real thing except for the minor issue of a rather large sum of money. JS
Fred the seller has requested privacy. Please feel free to contact me if you have a principal interested and I will be happy to share details per proper protocol... JS
Hi Joe, No, I sure don't, but certainly will if that happens. Just wondering....as we all are....what the first lambo is worth these days! Good luck with the deal, Joe. Hope the car ends up with somebody who appreciates that it is certainly the most important Lamborghini in existance, or at least I think it is. cheers, Fred
Indeed Fred. The idea is to put the car in the hands of someone who will bring it out to event like Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, Villa D'Este, and just generally expose it for everyone to enjoy. These days the very first Lamborghini is worth multiple seven figures to its owner and there is no shortage of genuine interest at the moment. There can only ever be one number one Personally I think one of the most significant sports cars of all time (both pre-war and post-war) to ever become available... Certainly one of my favorite cars of all time. I had the pleasure of having my picture taken sitting in it when it was at Concorso Italiano in 2001 by none other than our friend Valentino Balboni. Now, where is that picture?
Very nice looking and much better than the production 400 but it also was never a running factory automobile is that not correct? So technically, it's a non functional show car which is no longer original because it's been altered to actually operate which means absolutely nuthin' in this market. 3M euros ??? Bob S.
And that's the point -- who cares? This is one of those cars that goes way, way, way (did I say way?) beyond the usual measuring stick for Italian exotics. Way. There is absolutely no question about its authenticity, its importance, its production number, it's history. Some folks hate it, yet most totally drool over it and wonder why the heck it was never put into production. I know, I've talk to an awful lot of folks about it since I bought my 400 in 1982. I had the lead guitarist in RAT contacting me trying to get the GTV!! (man, that sucker was tall) It's one of the very, very few cars ever made that I'd call "unique" and "exciting" and "spaceshiplike" and "totally wild." It's almost a RatFink creation, if Big Daddy was Italian and had gone on to found Ferrari or something like that. Hey, there were 3 BAT cars, right? There's only one GTV. :-D Can't wait to see what happens Joe, that'll be fun. (I think we all know that no matter how private this sale is, ultimately -- even if it takes 5 years -- the number will somehow come out. Innocent chat at a dinner party? Bragging at the bar? It always gets out...eventually.) Anyway, I do think that you have what it takes to do this deal Joe. Hey, can you imagine if ROY had it? THIS CAR HAS TO GO TODAY! NO DECENT OFFER REFUSED! I will wear a THONG on my head to get this GTV -- OUTTA HERE! ;^D Fred
Hey Joe, do you happen to know... Is this the motor that's in it? http://www.400gt.com/articles/first_test/first_test.htm Fred
Actually, I should have asked which part was incorrect. You mean it's not better looking than the 400GT? ;>)
Bob, there are 2 schools of thought out there on this. One is that the GTV is way better looking than the 350/400. The other is that the 350/400 is way better looking than the GTV. (Ferruccio, for one, apparently thought so) Regardless, the GTV is hallowed ground to the true, early lambo enthusiast. Its the holy grail. The lp500 is the holy grail for the countach folks, but it doesnt exist. The GTV exists. Anyway, youre either with the program, or not. What can I say? Im with the program. :-D I think it's totally cool, and will certainly command more than ... um... let's just say, any other GT lamborghini out there. I would think WAY, WAY more. We'll see. Cheers, Fred
Joe....I do have a genuine buyer interested that requested some sort of price figure. Email me when you get a chance. Thanks
Well put Fred. That last sentence is really all that is being proffered here, without forgetting that it was absolutely the FIRST Lamborghini. Whether it has it original engine, whether it has its original paint color, whether it ran at Le Mans with a different body, is all moot. It is simply being put forth as the one-and-only, the originator of the ultimate breed that till exists in production today... the Holy Grail. JS
