As part of the sticky fix ' tour of duty' that I am currently undertaking with the vehicle my attention is turned to the fact that my silver dress rings in the main instrument and radio bezel guage clusters ( oil/water temp in particular) are yellowed and faded.

The radio bezel guage dress rings can be purchased new. (clock, fuel, oil temp), not so with the main cluster rings which are not sold separately and are part of the guages themselves.. Besides I dont event think you can get a new tachometer anyway these days...

Carplastix is one mob that I have found that can do the job, but at a price of 40 Euro each.. and thats without customs duty/shipping/insurance, but they claim its an exact copy of the oem color

    https://www.carplastix.com/pricelist/ferrari/ferrari-f355/

There are other options local to me in this country , but as they themselves decalre their silver is not a perfect OEM match, and so all 7 dress rings need to be doe together to ensure an aethetically pleasing result.

Has anyone else found an affordable source that is true to the OEM color and does the dress rings alone..?

I feel like I’m obsessive, but then I see threads like this, and it makes me realize I’m not as bad as I could be :)

For the radio bezel guage cluster (oil, clock, fuel) the dress ring part numbers are as follows..

    134 - Instruments parts diagram for Ferrari F355 B/GTS/Spider Mo. 5.2 / ABS Bosch F1 | Maranello Classic Parts (ferrariparts.co.uk)

    #40 64895700 Instrument Frame x3

For the Main Instrument Guage cluster the part number for the centre dress rings ( oil pressure/water temp) r is as follows..

#3 Combined Oil and Water guage.. ( 5 separate p/n depending on LHD or USA etc)

And when you buy the centre dress rings.. ferrari throws in a free Oil Pressure and Water Temp Guage as well!!;) Same for the speedo and Tacho!!

Were the silver rings damaged? I have done 100 sets and none never had to be painted, just cleaned up. They do not get sticky.

Dave... They were not damaged, and yes you are right they don't get sticky.. What happens though is that they get yellow and fade over time.. especially the 2 smaller centre rings in the main cluster, and then it stands out like dogs balls staring you in the face everytime you drive..

This is something that is also confirmed on the carplastix website

First of all, that's a hilarious saying and I'm definitely going to use it on many occasions. Second, come on man. Rattle can silver metallic and you're good to go. Those rings are a few mm wide.

I'm currently trying to remove the center 3 gauge surround on my 355 and I'm having an issue removing it. I have removed the radio, radio trim, radio sleeve and the six screws ( 2 upper, 2 center, 2 lower). I'm assuming the gauges will come out with the surround. What am I missing? I tried yanking on it! :)

Then there should be nothing else holding it back, apart from the wiring harness Perry..
As you can see from my photos..

Yes your photos were a big help. Maybe it's just stuck to the leather? I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Is the speedo/tach cluster easy to come out? Thank you for your help.

Speedo Tach is pretty straight forward.. 2 screws at the bottom around the steering column lift up and out over the latch at the top.
Removing the connectors is another issue... a real biatch..

I put a blanket over the steering column, and lifted the cluster surround up off the dash to rest it face down on the steering column.
There are x2 types of connectors.. Molex (long white) and the Square Female (Black/Red) connectors
Label everything.so u know where it goes back again.

There are locking tabs on the connectors that are very fiddly.. Some you can do with fingers alone.. others need plenty of cursing, others still need small screwdrivers on top of that..
One thing I found that helped it spraying the connectors with dry lubricant to loosen them up..
Be very careful as sometimes the green electrical ribbon "lifts up" with the connector as u pull it off.. and this can tear the ribbon.
If this happens just separate the ribbon from the connector.
