The inside of the glass on my tach and speedometer need cleaning. Has anyone removed the chrome ring without damage?

Not for the faint hearted, send them to a specialist, its well worth it.

Speedy cables in the UK are extremely good but very slow.

This is not a hard job and merely takes patience. I use a couple of different small flat head screwdrivers to very slowly and progressively pry the ring edges up. In fact the speedo and tach are the easiest to do because the plastic case and their larger diameter allow for some flex making it easier to take everything apart.

Years ago I pursued a bunch of clock and instrument experts expecting to find some magical tool that would make opening the instruments easier. ALL of them just showed me some flat head screwdrivers and told me that patience is all that is needed. Since then I have opened gauges by myself and it has been easy.
