A famous name can carry you so far, but after a while you are on your own.

Mick Shumacher has benefited from help on his way to F1, but hasn't shown much since.

Guenther Steiner would explain that better !!!

I think that the explanation of Mick as a slow learner best sums him up. With the right opportunity and time he could be a race winner and possibly champion. Unfortunately F1 rarely offers these luxuries to young drivers so you need to be quick NOW or you are forgotten.

I think people are forgetting that, unfortunately, it's not only about drives skill but the sponsorship money the drivers bring to the team. That's how Katayama had a seat for so long. You can probably put stroll in that same category. Everyone is rooting for Mick....He need to pick it up. In saying that, I think it's tough for the newer drivers that now has to adjust to the new car this year.

Kubica sadly after his accident missed his chance, though not in other areas of motorsports

Haas F1 boss Steiner to release book ‘Surviving to Drive’ in April
Haas Formula 1 boss Gunther Steiner will release his first book called “Surviving to Drive” in April, taking readers inside the team through the 2022 season.

Steiner has become one of the most popular fan figures in F1 as a result of his role in the Netflix series “Drive to Survive”, largely for his forthright approach and colourful language.

But Steiner’s thoughts will now be available for fans to read in the new book, published by Transworld and due for release next April.

The book promises to be “uncompromising and searingly honest, told in Steiner’s inimitable style” and give fans a look at the inner-workings of an F1 team from the view of a team principal.

Just imagine if Russia didn't invade Ukraine and we would have just watched season 2 with Schumacher and Mazepin. Assume Schumacher still scored 12, and Mazepin scored less but still brought millions of dollars, then what would you do at Haas? No good answers there either.

I don't get the whole fandom regarding Steiner. All the female fans (e.g. in Suzuka) who think he is the greatest. Just another middle aged Austrian dude to me.

BTW: I also don't get why there are now so many Austrians in F1 as team managers. They used to be all British. WTF?

Guenther Steiner is Italian, and some people think he has some charisma.

Steiner may originate from the region of Italy that used to be part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before WW1.

Steiner is from Merano, probably more Austrian than Italian

As Totol said "He comes from the mountain, the air is thinner there. You can't always think so well.”

I always worry when a company description confuses me and can't tell me what a company does in one sentence.

    Ferrari - We make cars
Red Bull - We make energy drinks
Haas - We make CNC machines

    Pretty simple isn't it
