Perez and Mag both were shafted cause of Mclaren. Both are starting to get better with Mag hauling Haas himself and Perez doing well with FI. Mclaren must be kicking themselves for kicking both out. Anyway I agree give Haas Leclerc would be fun to see him play with the RB in 2019 and impress Ferrari enough for him to get in there. Give him a stronger and established driver in a higher team to see true potential with him.

There's no doubt that Ferrari helps Haas as well as Sauber. Is that what someone is calling cheating? Because it's not . . . . . It's an "arrangement".

Under the current rules they cannot use other teams aero they have to make it themselves. They buy suspension and major parts for the car from Ferrari the Aero they can't though. The major parts means that some things converge hence the startling performance the car has and not to mention the major upgrades the Ferrari engine has been getting meaning HAAS can contend with Renualt alot at the top of midfield. And are coming close to RB in Sliverstone Q3.

In fact, they must own the intellectual property for any part they put on their car, bar a few allowed as you mentioned.
But, but, that doesn't mean they cannot purchase parts from Ferrari or else if they are exclusively made for them, and for which they own the IP rights.
Their chassis, for example is Dalarra designed and manufactured, but they own the IP rights for it.
Haas has read attentively the rule book, and sub_contracted a lot of the work to build his car. NASCAR taught him not to re-invent the Wheel, he once said.
I don't blame him; it's the way to go for a small team, IMO, but that method has attracted a lot of flack from other small teams apparently.
It has also given Liberty the idea to "standardise" some parts, something not everybody welcomed.

I wouldn't mind some limited scope for standardising parts if some teams want to sign up to shared development costs in some basic areas.

Perhaps if a team thinks it can do better, it can opt out of the shared agreement, get no technical details about it, and go its own way (e.g. Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull).

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I recall that McLaren pursued Perez ardently and then dumped him after one season. Didn't Magnussen finish 2nd in his first race?

Flack is cause they now have a new contender that is poised to threaten to eat away outside top 6 constructors points or if some top 6 cash out they jump to take advantage of it. Basically a cutthroat competition doesn't want more or it'll make it even harder for some of the more established (HAAS is youngest by far) to get good results. With Ferrari PU improvem

Ferrair pu improvements petty much means all other teams out of the top 6 who are not running the Ferrari PU are all finding themselves being beaten by the Ferrari powered teams of HAAS and Sauber. They are not taking that kindly since it means even less chances for them to take the top 10 for points. Case in point Mclaren are now being out raced by even the two Sauber with Alonso even struggling to beat them. Even Renualt has proclaimed that Haas is now a threat to their 4th place. That's the flack they are getting and I think you shouldn't mind it after all more competitive competition and they are Ferrari powered so it's like more pride to us Tifosi that our pu are giving our customer friends a chance to be competitive.

Perez had ran the 2013 Mclaren you know the one that is a straight disaster compared to the 2012 one so he gotten boot cause of the results he had. As for Mag well I heard he gotten sacked on his Birthday from an email from Mclaren. He must be chuffed his old team is now completely struggling to be in the fight of the midfield while his new team he's in is topping the midfield comfortably.

Even Jenson Button struggled with that McLaren, and McLaren had already been on the decline by then.

Yes, the way Perez and K.Magnusen were sacked was really disgraceful. Ron Dennis at his worst.
Later, in an interview Dennis accused Perez of not spending enough time at Woking to "gel" with the team.
Lack of motivation was the reason Magnusen was dropped.

Magnussen backs Haas Hungary test decision

    JULY 25, 2018

Kevin Magnussen says he understands Haas' decision to skip the post-Hungary test.

Ekstra Bladet newspaper reports that, as of the summer break, the American team's full focus will be on the 2019 car.

That decision was made due to the 2019 aerodynamic rule changes, and the knock-on effect is that Haas does not see the need to test in Hungary after the forthcoming Budapest race.

"We have so much data from the five recent races plus a test at Silverstone, so why spend money doing nothing?" said team boss Gunther Steiner.

Not just that, Haas' development driver Santino Ferrucci has been fired by his Formula 2 team. Steiner said making a decision about what the F1 team will do about the troubled American is "not at the top of my priorities".

And Haas doesn't just want to sell the Hungary test cockpit to a high bidder.

"So many people come to these tests with money, but in the end we are not a car rental company," said Steiner.

Therefore, Magnussen backed Haas' decision to skip Hungary.

    "It's logical," said the Dane.

"We don't have big things to test, it's expensive, and we have few spare parts after the recent race. It's been a tough month for all of the guys," Magnussen added. "They deserve a break."

Haas to consider Grosjean seat after summer

    AUGUST 6, 2018

Haas is still giving little away about the future of Romain Grosjean.

It is believed Kevin Magnussen, at least, has done enough to stay with the American team for 2019.

Boss Gunther Steiner admits Haas has done a better job than McLaren and Renault of creating an environment for the Dane to thrive in.

"For this we must thank Gene Haas," he told France's Auto Hebdo.

"Gene likes to give people space to act and think, which helps Kevin."

But Frenchman Grosjean has had a bad 2018 season so far, just as Haas is thinking about its drivers for 2019.

Sergio Perez and others have been linked with Grosjean's seat.

"I don't want to talk about the future," Steiner insisted. "We will study this question after the summer break.

"I have a lot of respect for Romain on a human level. Who would have taken the risk of joining us three years ago? He believed in us and our project," he added.

    Steiner answers questions:

How does Haas F1 Team differentiate itself from Ferrari?

“We buy the non-listed parts from Ferrari, which are allowed by FIA regulations. What we have to do to be a constructor in Formula One is build our own chassis and do our own aero development."

"You have to manufacture all your own parts which go with the aero, like the front wing, rear wing, all the bodywork, radiators and chassis – we have to do all that ourselves from design to manufacture."

"All the parts like suspension, we buy from Ferrari to make it simple, but the rest we have to develop ourselves.”

Steiner stalks Dallara's role with Haas F1 Team.
“Dallara is a contracted engineering company to us. They are the leader in racecar design and manufacturing for all the single-make series with F2, F3, GP3, Super Formula, Indy car ...."

"We buy a lot of our composite parts from them. Their designers design things, but it’s under the leadership of Haas F1 Team and our chief designer Rob Taylor and our aero group with Ben Agathangelou.”

HAAS finally gets settlement from Sepang International Racing Circuit......remember??? The storm drain that was kicked up by a previous car (free practice) then Grosjean ran over it inflicting major damage to VF-17 car. HAAS submitted a bill in the amount of 750k USD to the circuit. Honestly, since it was the last year of the circuit, I did'nt think they would pay. Nice for both parties....HAAS & the Sepang Circuit.

Magnussen can be fast and is inconsistent and an a**hole.
    Grosjean is fast but intermittent.

Good bang for the buck is my thinking. They have a pairing that permits the occassional highlight.

IMO I'd have sacked Grosjean and inserted Ocon. Problem I think is his Mercedes connection and any Ferrari engine secrets.

    Hahaha

"Inserted " is the right word.

Ocon's height is a major problem for him to find a seat. No pun intended .

His size may prove to be a constant handicap in his career.

When you are above 5 feet tall, better try acting that driving race cars, IMO.
