Hi Guys, I don't know why, but when I get back from a drive and I park the 328 back into the garage, I always pop the engine lid to let it cool down easier??!!? Does it even matter that I do this?
Not the worst vice in the world to have . Probably does help the rubber and plastic components in the engine bay a little over time...
LOLOL, Hahahaha I have been doing this since I owned my other mid engined cars, before this 328. And I have no idea why.
I was finally broken of that habit when I started parking it on or under a 4 post lift. Couldn't raise the lid without contacting the underside of the lift. No longer have the lift but still broke the habit...
Probably the only thing to worry about is breaking the latch release cable sooner than it's going to anyway.
Ditto, same here. I like to just do a visual check of the engine after a run so it serves a dual purpose of removing the heat as well. Also, can put the car cover on quicker as cool down takes less time.
Nice to know that not only I have this awkward habit. I leave the garage door open as well to allow the heat to escape.
I do it and go one better by placing a 20" fan blowing upwards and set on high on top of the engine to pull the heat out. I leave the fan on for about an hour and the engine is cool enough to allow me to cover the car. Alden
Wow Thanks guys, was actually looking into counseling for this, but this group counseling is far more better in the company of my peers around here But sticking a fan under there, that's pretty weird, LOLOL jk. *as I run into the house to get a fan*
Dunno if it helps the car. In autumn in DC, it helped heat the computer/office just above the garage. I still do this, because I usually carry stuff in the rear compartment, and then just leave the lid unlatched after unloading. Certainly helps keep a bucket of chicken warm.
I do the same to all my rear engine cars including my newer F458 and lamborghini lp570-4 superleggera ...probably useless and more for our own peace of mind...
I do this all the time with my 308 and my 360 spider. I want to get it cooled down ASAP - you dont want that heat trapped with nowhere to go and no ventilation. Also leave the garage door open a while.
