One of my friends url got hacked fashiontalking.com and there was the posting of the person who hacked it. They went via the hosting server Anyone know, how previous data can be saved? or is it a gonna Thanks in advance. Best
Nothing is ever really erased, take the hard drive to a data recover firm in your area and they can recover everything off of the drive, UNLESS the idiot did a NSA wipe on the drive... then it is bye bye
You are a life saver! did not think of doing that. Would forward this information to them thanks to everyone for giving their feedback.
The entire site only existed on that one machine? No "development" or even "old" version somewhere (anywhere!) else? Another reason that "friends" and business don't mix to well - They don't even have a backup disk?....... Good luck, cheers, Ian
They do, but index file is missing or something like that, and they have some of it here and there. Agree.. friends and business dont go well.. its a small outfit.. and this dudes dont have much cash... working and at the same time. trying to build a portal.
Index files can be rebuilt...... I'm guessing from the site name it was "similar" to this - Primarily a discussion site? May have lost some posts, but I suspect the bad guys moved their crap over the top - There may well still be lots of the site still "laying around"? Again, good luck recovering it, Cheers, Ian
Chances are that the hacker saved the original file somewhere - sometimes the code is still in the hacked file (commented out so it's invisible). Look to see which files were modified recently... Oh yeah, and don't make any more php sites. Damn things constantly get hacked by teenagers. Move to .NET
Don't feel too bad some of the biggest sites get hacked and they spend millions in security. Backup is something most people learn the hard way after they lose data. The 1st thing you friend needs to do is work out how they were hacked so they don't come back next week and do the same **** again. Looking at the hacker groups previous attacks it looks like they are using RFI exploits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_File_Inclusion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBJyvT9V8ZE If this is the case then they might not of actually damaged the site and all the data is still there.
+1 I don't think a "data recovery" service is called for.... Someone who knows what they're looking at/for - Indeed.
