$1800 installed and I love it. I know some or a lot of people will say you don't need cruise control on a Ferrari. But on the freeway it is really awesome. You set the speed and it stays at a constant speed vs trying to use the pedal to maintain a certain speed. The pedal is so touchy it's pretty much impossible to keep at a set speed.

For longer drives it will be huge.

I'm going to get pit speed installed on my 458. I like long road trips and put about 15K miles on my 458 last year. The only people who say cruise is not desireable on a 458 are the latte swillers who only put about 1K miles on their cars a year, mostly attending cars and coffee meets. :)

    Guilty as charged :D

But seriously, when driving at legal speeds (or thereabouts! :)), say 140-150kph, I feel the car is uncomfortable at that speed. Hesitant. In between. It wants more. And if you feel that and obey the car's wishes, you're way past 200-250kph (I actually feel the car is at its best cruising, when it reaches 260-280kph), which is jailtime speed in most countries. Therefore I wouldn't have much use for cruise control.

Furthermore, long runs at the same speed isn't likely to generate excessive speed inside exhaust manifolds? Apples and oranges I know, but the mechanic that used to service my 355 said that the worse possible thing you could do to that particular car is keep at the same RPM for extended periods of time. Sure to overheat and crack manifolds sooner rather than later.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Your is either exaggerating or misinformed... lugging the engine, revving it while the oil hadn't reached proper operating temp, and high revving it with no load are very detrimental, running it at steady rpm without lugging it does zero damage that's what it's designed for

I'm really glad hear this can be fitted after the fact. I think its a great feature for those who appreciate it. If I drove on the highway with my Ferrari frequently I think it might be nice to have.

That feeling when another poster's legal speed is 50% faster than the maximum speed limit in your country :(

LOL! It is useful. Head to Monterey for car week from anywhere in California and try keeping the car well-controlled to under 80 mph. Can be done, but difficult with the throttle being so sensitive. Putting the car into wet mode helps a little with throttle sensitivity, but it's really difficult to maintain a legal speed with cruise control.

OP, Would you mind telling us which dealer? I just need a reference point to approach my dealer to add on this device.

A friend has a 458 spider with pit speed. Loves it on the Interstates.

I avoid Interstaes like the plague. A total waste for me.

Not really. I had a 12 Italia nero daytona (looked similar to yours) and put close to 10,000 miles on her in less than 18 months. Didn't need cruise control and wouldn't have wanted it. I guess it's just one of those "options" that you just want or not.

This is a great price. After seeing this post i contacted my salesman and asked him if he could install this before transport this week. He quoted me around 2400 nd i still dont think its too bad of a deal but i figured all these guys would be similar pricing all being dealerships and going by book.

Glad I read this post, now I know what that button is for! LOL
I honestly thought it was for usage at the track and never looked into it further, cause no intent on tracking.

I may be in the minority, but I find the cruise control / pit speed interface to be... not great.

You have to press and hold the knob which is not close to the steering wheel just to turn the system on. Then you set the speed and it gives you no indication of what the set speed is. And to increase or decrease the speed you gotta reach over and turn the little knob left or right. But again it doesn't tell you how much you've changed it. Is it 1mph? 2mph? 1.35mph?

BMW and Porsche systems are way better. Touch one button on a stalk or on the steering wheel itself to turn on. Then just press the stalk/button to increase or decrease speed. And the dash tells you your target speed.

There's just something so... Italian about Ferrari's approach. :p

Agreed. Although I had it installed by Ferrari on my 458 and would do it all over again just to be able to give my right leg a rest on longer trips.

I used pit speed once to check its operation. Six years later I tried it again but could not remember where the button was! Still better than the wiper button which I've never used. Both are irrelevant the way I use the car.
