As some of you know I live in Oklahoma but stay in Texas for the summer, well at 3 pm today I got a call from my mom telling me that my house was broke into and ripped to pieces. All in all I estimate about $40k in lost and damages stiff.

But on a happy note I gat a call from the police at 11 pm telling me they got who did it

Tis a good thing that they found who did it. But being in Houston, that will be time served at maybe 3-15 months time? Or a lot longer if this is the third strike.

I hope insurance helps you out and all goes smoothly here on out.

Wait until they get sent up...it'd be a shame if anything happened to their stuff while they were away ;)
Is it the same in OK as TX? If someone enters your home to rob you and you're there, you can shoot them? I don't even think they need to be leaving with goods...just imminent threat.

pro tip: if you shoot em, make sure their body is more than 50% in your home, even if you have to drag them back in.

I’m not sure if they will get any time because of there age, but I’m hoping they will have to pay out restoration. Just think, being that young and having to work off that kind of money

Yes in Oklahoma we can shot them too, but we go to jail until proven justified

Intresting, can you shot the intruder even if he's UNarmed???
I heard many different rules about this subject, I guess its depend on from what state you're living in.
To be honest, I'm not sure how that workes here in Norway, but if a intruder brake into my house and starts to threat me and my family and I beat the crap outta him(or kill him) I WILL go to jail but only for a short scentense...

PS: it MUST happen INSIDE of my house, I cant chase him down the street to put a bullet in his neck!

We uses "Rottweiler" ...they are damn fast and never stop till....So I just have teach him to bring every piece back to the house (the 50% rule) when he has finished with the bandito;)

In Oklahoma we actually have an equal force law, meaning that if they have a gun then you can use a gun. But if they have a baseball bat then you can only use blunt objects or less. I find it sad that if someone comes in my house with the intent to do harm to me with a knife, I have to tell them to hold on so I can go to the kitchen and get the biggest F’en knife I have. Especially when by the time I get back to where I was the intruder will surly have my gun…..

You might want to check this with an attorney. That is not my understanding of "equal and opposite force". That bat (or knife, for that matter) would be considered a deadly weapon and you can use a gun to defend yourself, if you feel your life (or someones life) is in imminent danger.

That’s just what I’ve been told, not sure what’s really true. But I would bet my life on the fact that I would defend myself in anyway needed regardless….

That is dead on correct and corrolates 100% with Texas concealed carry laws. Let's say Billy Bob Bubba cruises in your grandmother's house packing a Louisville slugger...granny need not pull out her aluminum bat...Her good friend Mr Colt (45...or other flavor) will be more then justified as Granny can surely expect that her life is in danger. I am 6'2" tall...I also can consider Billy Bob Bubba a threat and treat him to some deadly force.

Granny should shoot for center of mass...if you shoot for the head you are trying to kill the fine gentlemen, using deadly force is not considered intent to kill, it is intent to stop the use of deadly force. Better know the law before you pull the trigger. This is 80% of the training you get in a Concealed carry class or concealed carry renewal class.

i know that police officers have the equal force rule, and they can't use a gun when the criminal has a knife

If someone broke into my house, they're dead...it's that simple. But, to avoid going to jail, paying for a lawyer, or getting sued by his family I'd either just berry him in my crawl space or dump him somewhere and of coarse not report the break in. Might sound dumb, but I don;t need any troubles cause some ****** tried to rob/attack me.

Equal force rule generally means that they cannot respond with lethal force over a threat of non-lethal force. Something like a chair or a tree branch would not be worthy of a gun, but knives, bats and other implements are.
