My shadow, Shadow, who I rescued about 5 months ago when he was about 8-10 weeks old is a drooler. The vet told me that he either et something he should not have or is just really really happy. I was worried but then I thought about it and realized he eats better and more than I do, has two buddies he can play with if the urge attacks him thus he is living the dream.

Anyone else have a drooling "Putty Tat"?

Several years ago my Himalayan slipped out the door while I was bringing in a bike. When she returned the next morning I gave her an exam as she immediately went into hiding - found a vague "ow" spot. She began drooling profusely so took her vet who found nothing specific but started her on antibiotics. A few days later the sore spot had swollen with pus and had to be lanced. Weird thing was by this time she had stopped drooling. Don't know why they drool when sick - nausea maybe?

China after surgery to lance and place drain.

It is odd and Shadow has free roam when outside and his drooling is mostly when he is getting love and attention so it is not a constant. I inspect him while loving on him each day and there is nothing I have found concerning.

It is concerning though but you know how parents can be. Fingers crossed.

Go with the really, really happy until the vet tells you otherwise.

    I will.

I am, or think I am, in tune with my kids and nothing is "abby normal" other than just getting a tad more independent. A few of my friends tell me that they have never seen a cat so in love with a human like he is with me, I think it was meant to be a compliment LOL?

Our Rag doll would drool....when he was happy. I wouldn't worry about it. If your cat seems fine, I'm sure he is.

China crossed the Rainbow Bridge a few years ago at 14 yo from kidney failure. Survived a year after diagnoses requiring me to give her subcutaneous Ringers every other day. She was a beauty. Thanks for asking.
