Well it looked like a pretty good day and after the rain the other day the roads were desalted. I just had to take the Fcar out to get it a little fresh air. The temp went up to 39* so I had to put my foam insert into the oil cooler duct. Dropped it off of the lift and did my usual wait , pump pump and turn it over and peddle it when it started. No problem and I still didn't replace that 11 year old battery. So out on the road and as you know them carbs love the crisp cold air. Great ride and only had a stiff 2nd gear for a few shifts. Went into town and then to the mall. Great ride and even the heater was pumping out some heat. Fun ride and got back after 2hours of fun. Can't wait until the weather gets better but if we just stay cold and no ice or snow then I'll be out on the road. I think maybe tomorrow I'll go do a load test on the battery and see if I need to replace it. Enjoy the ride.

Where in NY are you. I've taken out the 328 every now and then. Maybe we can meet up.

Ace I'm upstate in the Poughkeepsie area. Lucky I went out yesterday because we have about 3" of new snow out there this morning. So I'm SOL until it all melts . Have a good day.

Steve, I wouldn't take a chance, I would replace the battery ASAP.
11 years old battery is very risky. Don't want that to ruin your day in the
middle of your wonderful drive during a wonderful day.

Can you tell me more about the foam insert for the oiler cooler duct, is it something you made or can we buy them? Thanks

I made up the foam insert. I had a piece of foam packing material. It was about 2" thick so I just cut it up to fit in the duct. It is like a small cell sponge. It just slows down the air flow . Not a big deal.

The carbs do like colder air, don't they?

My car seemed to run so much better today at 57 *F than it does at 90 F. The humidity was higher also, which helps.

Ahh... remember Poughkeepsie well. Used to spend some time in Kingston, New York. There are some good roads up there. Watch out for those deers. I had a collison once. It wasn't pretty. GL!

I lived very near Poughkeepsie (Salt Point) in the early 80's. I moved there from just outside of White Plains (Ardsley) after graduating HS. I would love to get my 328 on the Taconic someday. I remember it as a very scenic and quiet stretch of road. Fall would be great season to visit that area. I really miss the Hudson Valley area.

Yep , great driving roads in the area. Lots of twisties and scenic views. Also a short ride through some great back roads to Lime Rock Park race course. The Taconic is a fun ride going north and you can cut across to either the Catskill mountains or back to Conn. Didn't get to the battery but will try to do a load test today. Not a big deal as the weather just turned to cold with left over snow from yeaterday. It'll get better so enjoy the ride.
