    Everyone,

I'm in the process of maybe buying my first Ferrari, a 308GT4. I called Hagarty, and they refused to underwrite me because my condo has underground parking but its open for upto 65 units (i.e. its not enclosed parking for 1 - 2 cars, we have 100 +/- parking spots).

    1) Can I request that they go for an underwrite exception?

    2) Does anyone know of any alternatives for Hagarty that are reasonable?

I just use State Farm here in Denver. Joe Adams' office is 303 388 4949. I have just regular insurance for my Ferrari and haven't seen the need to use any special collectors' insurance. Hope this helps.

Who's got one here in Denver? Just curious. You can pm if you need more info.

I have State Farm as well: full coverage but with a milage restriction runs me less than $20/month. Then again, I have all my other insurance through them as well. Still, I have had very good service. Good luck. -m

Since I sold my Audi, Hagarty won't insure my Elise because my remaining cars are too old (three car for two people who work in the same location doesn't seem to matter). Our agent (Brad Phillips) worked hard to get us an exception, but it couldn't get done. We moved the Elise to Allstate and left my Alfa with Hagarty. The rate change was very minor so it all worked out.

Called at least 3 "speciality" insurance companies, all had the "private locked garage" requirement.

Got a quote from State Farm (had insurance with them for 13 years or so). $275 per 6 months, but I'm fuzzy on the "replacement value" versus "book value" issue.

    Car is a 75 308GT4, I'm 39 with a decent driving record (no at-faults, 1 speeding ticket in last 5 yrs).

ANYONE comment on cost of State Farm (other than above)?

ANYONE comment on thier cost (other than above)?

Anyone had experience with State Farm after an accident in a Ferrari?

I have both my Fcars at State Farm, same as Sherpa's.

    430 coupe is 942/year
    328 is 490/year

You can expect to pay more in Denver with a common garage however.

I'm in So Cal, so my rates may be higher for 100/500k liability , comp, $100 deduct collision....etc...$385 for 6 months. I have all of my business with them and there was no question about insuring my '87 328. Has anyone had CLAIM experience with STate Farm? Paul

I have all my cars with American Family (Doug Nordlander 303-771-2075) all they required is an Appraisal for the Ferrari and cobra and then a visual inspection by the agent. I have used them for years without any issues.

    Good luck

If you can't get Hagerty, the State Farm stated value specified mileage policy is the next best bet, in my opinion. Even if you have a couple unusual/classic/exotic cars, State Farm is close to Hagerty. When you get up to three or more, Hagerty gets very attractive because you only pay one liability charge regardless of the number of vehicles. This past year I paid about $1700 a year to fully insure a '81 carb 512 Boxer, a glass 308gtb, a '68 365 GT 2+2, an '06 Caterham CSR, a '59 Spider Veloce, plus comprehensive on a '69 GTV and another '59 Spider Veloce. I'm adding an '07 V8 Vantage in a few weeks (recently sold the 365 and my CSR) for about the same amount total. That's hard to beat, plus all the cars have realistic replacement values stated in the policies. Hagerty is smart, as they realize people that really love their rare cars take excellent care of them, don't put that many miles on them, and drive them carefully. Good deal for me, but also for them, as I've not had anything but windshield claims in 30 years of driving- knock on wood.

It's a closely held secret, but most of the really cool cars in the Denver area are within a small radius in NW unincorporated Jeffco, so try an agent up there. I think I will get flamed for that, but I swear it's true.

Ive had all my toys through insured through Grundy Worldwide and I love em!!!!!!!!!!!!
The longer your a customer the less they seem to care about the particulars...... For a new customer you should give them a ring...
Ever since my 308 ive had them and their great!!!
