Anyone look at the recent Hagerty 355 Values? Condition 1 at $90K and condition 2 at $70K. Seems like these cars are starting to move up. I guess if mine is a condition 1.5 I should be valuing it at about $80K? Time to increase the insurance.

They have a note of "+$30,000 for a 6 speed". Does that mean that the 6 speed should be $30K more than the price given or the F1 should be $30K less? If more, then we now have a lot of 355's that, according to Hagerty's, should be over the $100K mark. Now I really have to up the insurance.

There was just a thread on this.

Hagerty is useless at valuations was the general consensus. Asking prices does not equal selling prices.

That said, 355 values are definitely on the rise...but what isn't in this market?

Personally I see the air slowly oozing out of the bubble on these cars and flattening off maybe 20% below where they are now...or they will double again in the next 12 months. hard to tell these days. My shopping experience tells me a 6 speed is probably $30k more than the F1's and GTS/GTB models commanding about $30k more than drop tops.

    And tres55 is right...asking doesn't equal selling.

The only way it could possibly be plus 30k extra for a 6 sped is the years they made F1 98 and 99.. How can You can add for years where they all came one same way and are all 6 speeds..They all came the same way 95-97..Can see the premium in say a 99 because there are very few 6 speeds that were produced in 99 as say compared to when they were all 6 speeds, so a 99 6 speed is rare and uncommon as compared to a 97 for example which is every one produced!!

    What?

Here is a link to a clean titled, 1997 355 GTS 6 speed with a BUY IT NOW price of $85,000.

    Ferrari 355 F355 GTS | eBay

So based on your logic, a clean titled, 1998 355 F1 Spider should have a buy it now price of $25,000.

    Brilliant.

EDIT: If anyone here is thinking of putting their 1998 / 1999 F1 Spider up for sale with a buy-it-now of $25k, PM me. I'll take it and save you the eBay fees.

Sorry guys...posted and never looked back at the subsequent comments. I was trying to be a smart ass about the bubble oozing or them doubling. My position is the bubble will ooze but slowly and settle a bit below where we're at. And I wasn't trying to imply that you should combine the price differences...a 6 speed does seem to command $30k'ish more than a comparable F1...and a Spyder (all else being equal) is about $30k less than a GTB/GTS. Are there exceptions? Of course but that's what I am seeing.

    Happy 4th.

LoL, I'll take three at that price. I think what we have here is a case of wishful thinking and or unconscious human complex at work. The F1 and the drop top are "option" to the base hard top. To say that the F1 model and maybe to a lesser degree the drop top body style yield less value is a tall tell not worth telling. Joking aside, at this stage of the game, I think we need to refrain from regurgitating opinions of Internet bloggers as facts. Before picking up my 355 F1 drop top, I looked at several models; the 348, 360 and 430. The 348 didn't have the F1. The 360 and 430 have the F1 but they don't look as good as the 355. Yes I know looks is subjective but realllllly!!! Ultimately it was the F1 and drop top combined with the 355 body styling won me over. In fact if it wasn't for the F1 and drop top of the 355, I wouldn't be on this forum.

My opinion is every Ferrari will be worth more than the initial price in the long run. It's just a matter of time. Having said that it is not in anyone best interest to buy a Ferrari solely for the potential resale value. Buy it for the beauty. Buy it for the fun. You will be happier. :) :)

As we look back at Ferrari prices and project future value into the 355 I have a question:

Historically, what was the last Ferrari model where coupes and spiders were produced and in the end the coupe was worth more than the spider?

I believe 308/28 coupes are now worth more than the GTS models. Coupes were rare in the 308/28. There were more Berlinetta 355s built than the other variants though. Right now it appears that popular opinion is that the Berlinettas are more desirable. I've had a Berlinetta and now have a spider. The coupe is a much "tighter" and is a simpler car. Putting the top up and down is a little bit of an effort compared to modern convertibles. There's nothing like the sound of a spider with the top down though.

Coupes vs. spiders.... GTS is kinda a coupe :) ...and in the 355 might be the best option of the three IMHO.

Since everyone is speculating anyway my take is that in 15 years the f1 will command more money than the sticks, with gts being the highest, followed by berlinetta, then spider. They will all be in excess of 125k for good examples.
