I saw a video of the hail storm Dallas recieved yesterday and just wanted to ask if everyone in the area is ok and if they recieved any vehicle damage? The video I saw showed massive vehicle damage.

I've heard conflicting reports that Chihuly glass exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum was damaged. Too bad, I was wanting to go check that out.

NPR reported this morning that there was indeed some damage but wasn't clear as to the extent. Oh well, you can always see chihuly at the bellagio in vegas.

Here's a photo from La Vista near Abrams...

It's amazing, we saw it. I actually asked the volunteer about hail and she said they weren't worried, they were tough.

I was swimming during the hail storm. I received a little rain but that was it. Apparently it was really bad in other areas.

I work right by the High-Five and we really got pounded here. Luckily, my car was in a parking garage. On my drive home after the storm, I saw a lot of cars driving with shattered windows. The auto glass and roofer folks are going to make a ton of money from that storm.

We lost all 5 skylights at our new empty nester house. Also my Explorer and daughter's QX4 got a lot of hail damage. We had golf ball and some larger hail, and just to our north, Northpark's skylights took a ton of hits.

Got it safed up, and went to Lakewood Country Club, and they had major damage from tennis and softball size hail. There was a large seated dinner there for the Texas Amateur Tournament that was to take place today and tomorrow, and I would say 80% of the cars in the lot had at least one window blown out. The whole 18th fairway was white with hail. Was really eerie with steam rising from the hail.

Only a small part of one exhibit got broken. Pretty amazing with all they had out there.

In the "weird and strange" category, I was home (off Henderson & 75) when the storms rolled through and didn't really see much hail at all...some pea-sized hail but not much. My friend lives literally 1.5 miles away and her roof was totaled along w/ four windows. Expect home insurance rates to tick up yet again.

More weather supposedly coming later tonight...and some of us in Johnson County just experienced an earthquake. And not a small one either...it was a rather strong one, enough to shake my house pretty good, and to knock four of my license plates off my wall.

It was a very pleasurable experience to be woken up to a shaking house, and a cold Croatian license plate on my face. I can feel some of the aftershocks a bit.

I'm in Lakewood. It was horrible. So much damage everywhere, many cars totalled. Broken windows everywhere, roofs destroyed. I got lucky, my car was not hit too bad. Got the hail dings fixed by Monte at Dent Works in Fort Worth yesterday :) he rocks !!! And I'm closing on a Lakewood house sale this morning, delayed about two weeks since the sellers had to get a new roof due to the hail, good for my clients - I'm representing the buyers, they will love living in this area of Dallas !!

My daughter's QX4 got totaled (2002 model), but for once it worked out to my benefit. My young insurance agent had me with Chubb and a designated value policy that ended up being $4k higher than the car was worth, pre-hailstorm. Then I hit the perfect storm with Nissan, where my son-in-law has worked for 11 years. Besides his family member discount, which is huge, we got to add in cash back, 4th of July sale, and $500 extra for taking out a note, which can be paid off without penalty. Got to keep the QX4 for the surplus value of $1575 and was able to trade it in for $4k. All in all, I got to buy my new college graduate a mid-level Murano with almost $11k in savings. She is on the road back to Fayetteville (Arkansas grad) for her first job at a marketing company in Bentonville, whose biggest client is Sam's. Proud of her, and lucky this all worked out.

That just leaves my Explorer with $5.5k in damages, and my house deductible for fixing all my skylights and roof issues. You never get ahead of the insurance companies, but it's nice to win every now and then. Chubb has been great to work with.

Monte at Dent Works is one of the best in DFW, he's had some interesting cars parked in front of his shop over the years.
