hiya Skip yes Sir you will be getting food and fixed PC I followed the car to paint shop yesterday Chelle Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanx Andreas lots more accurate than before - this pic from last year's VA show similar angle should show lots of differences http://members.core.com/~michelle.lonnecker/vet3.jpg Chelle
They must have added that at the last moment, I don't remember seeing it until the pic on the flatbed. It looks as if it must also serve as a chmsl, I guess!!! Bill
ROTFL!!! actually it's a light bar for when we use it as a pace car at the track yeah, that's the ticket... hmmm... forget the classic ferrari red... maybe we need to do chameleon gold and get some gold 'dubs and a killer stereo... carbon fiber wing maybe a big horsey decal sideways across the hood... hmm, riced out gto? pretty sure if Haley didn't kill me I'd do the honorable thing and shoot myself.. I like Andreas's wing - it fits the 308 , but not on a GTO light bar tho .. there's an idea..... paint it up like a police car... 250 police GTO interceptor.. or a dukes of Hazzard version? Italian flag on the roof and name it "the General Ferrari". lol now I hafta play in photoshop .. Chelle
I love the light bar wing; it really adds a distinctive touch. Now I know what's next for Andreas' Daytona!
Twisted! better be careful, people may get idaes from all of this and actually ruin.....i mean....do that stuff!
Gee, how long does it take for paint to dry? It's a week already, so where is your update? I need a fix, since I missed the GTO recreation in Indy. PS: Just got my bumpers back. All chromed and beautiful. Can't wait to get them on my other V-8.
It's about time! I don't get it, your car sits inside the shop while my Mercedes is outside. Did you work some kind of special deal with Ed?????
I complimented Ed on his cool hot rod he is constructing. Flattery will get you anywhere... PS: His hot rod is kewl regardless.
I'm gonna go there today after work and see if I can take the car home tonight... at the very least I'll get some pics It ought to have the paint on it.... then "all that's left" is putting it all back together and wiring it I look forward to finally getting to see your other car Andreas!! I'm going through withdrawal too... Chelle
grrr... car isn't done yet as of yesterday - but they were expecting it to go in the booth last night .... might try to trailer it home this afternoon so we can put it together over the holiday... This is the site that greeted me yesterday morning when I was hoping to see it sitting in booth with color on it http://members.core.com/~sysadmin/personal/GTO_atpaint013.jpg it's almost home... Chelle
No time to write much as the car is home from paint and the mad rush is on to assemble it all. We're pretty happy overall, a few little issues, but when you're rushed to meet a deadline it's hard to justify losing more time demanding a reshoot over some small bits that should buff out anyway After seeing the first shot here a few days ago with no paint it's great seeing the car with color on it finally. Tonight most of the wiring should be in and most of the interior. Then over the next couple days the glass and work on the mechanicals all connected And yes, there is a change that will happen to the doorglass frames.. it will look a little more rounded on the back corner Chelle Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beginning the long job of reassembly Chelle Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
CONGRATULATIONS!!! She looks like a million bucks. Or like the real thing for that matter. Love all the work you did to the body: The elongated hood, the side vents, the trunk, the fuel filler, it is all so damned right.
Thanx everyone We will keep posting updates and making improvements on the car ... as Haley pointed out the other day though, "WINTER project my a**" lol, what was supposed to just be cleaning up the body and fresh paint and engine turned into a huge project.. We fell victim to the "while we're at it" syndrome. 6+ months without the ability to drive our car really tests a friendship. We both miss driving it sooo much - and now that it's almost done I'm thinking I need to buy a "beater" F-car to drive and save the GTO for special days of automotive therapy.. anyone know anyone looking to get out from under payments on anything I'd like? Chelle
I thought I got my other V8 to have a "Ferrari" I don't have to worry about. But the more I have done on it, the less likely that car will ever be a daily driver. The 308 fits better into that role... Don't rush finishing up the GTO. Take your time. The veterans will understand. To quote Gus Grissom: "Do good work!"
Well, the reality is that it is not going to be ready to make her first showing at my VA Show...I bust my backside to make a nice car show and not even get to show a car to the Veterans. I dont think it will be ready for The Air Show across the pond either, will let y'all know.
I'm bummed. I was really looking forward to seeing it at the show in Muskegon. Are you guys still bringing the Lambo? What if we scrounged up some volunteers to help put her back together? Can we nominate you guys for Overhaulin' and see what kind of work Chip Foose can do to a Ferrari? Mike
